RE: American - Week 1 Football
It's odd we ***** about how bad our NEW conference is , when its 2 teams we've been playing with in the big east for years that have laid the biggest eggs we've seen in a long time.

Way to go UCONN and USF, Memphis and Temple feel competitive now

USF and UCF are forever programs "poised to be on the rise."

I think UCF is ahead of USF right now and they have a very good team this year.

Almost-AAC member SDSU stunk it up tonight as well, losing to FCS Eastern Illinois 40-18. If they had joined, it would be three FCS schools beating AAC members this weekend.

Yep, and Boise State just got pummeled by Washington.

Happy to see Boise State lose big. I am betting that program takes a downturn over next few years. As long as they play real teams they are not going run up a lot of wins.

The general take from week one is that every conference has schools that really stink. (FCS has some good teams too).

RE: American - Week 1 Football
They are NOT happy over on the Boneyard...there is a thread about UC. Here is the opening comment:

"They (UC) seem to make great football hiring decisions year in and year out with out skipping a beat. They just destroyed a big 10 program and have a rock star head coach. What the hell is keeping Uconn from doing that? Is it a money issue... Do we go for the budget AD's? Watch Cinci become the new it team now ... The program has great buzz, plays exciting football and as far as I know doesn't have many off the field issues."

and another...

"Cincy will have a Big 12 invite before the season is over. Mark it down. The AAC was a disgrace this weekend with Cincy being the only bright spot. They won't be around long...which would make every 2003 BE addition, minus USF, find a better spot than us. Just amazing...."

That's a lot off conclusions jumped to after one week of football where UC plays a subpar team.

Have to say he's right though. We have made many great decisions with the football program. We have an opening and we hire away a big name head coach, they lose a coach and hire a retread.

The part about us ending up in the B12 is just sulking but I think UCONN is in a terrible spot with regards to realignment.

I would not have hired PP. I don't know what UCONN was thinking with that hire. They have nobody to blame but themselves.

I recall the lovefest over USF's hire. Ppl were initially so quick to say that that hire graded out better than CTT's and continually cited that Taggert was from the Tampa hire and as such was a perfect hire. God I hate the off-season. So much dumb $hit passes as "analysis."

On another note....wow W. Kentucky whooped ass. Imagine if the rumors how proven to be correct and Petrino would have come over as our OC. The final score doesn't give justice to the beat down UK received. Yet ANOTHER off-season lovefest prognostication. It's very much in our interest to see UK fall on their face.....and do so hard.

UK will be lucky to win 4 games this year. I for the life of me don't understand people looking at UK...they will never and have never amounted to anything in the SEC. At best they could get to 7-5 pre-bowl game, that's about their ceiling in the SEC at the moment.

Sadly, these days 7-5 out of the SEC probably lands you in a bowl against the AAC champ.

Not that I thought UK had turned the corner. They had so much off season buzz and seemed to recruit KY and OH well. Welcome back to that harsh reality.

Don't know how ppl rate Ohio vs Purdue but Louisville is looking pretty unstoppable right now. Copeland catches seemingly everything. 14 nil cards, still in the first.

Copeland must think he's the honey badger II!

Nice run back, then up-ended, then landing on his feet by OU player Bass!

I'm a Lions fan...I saw that Millen was doing the broadcast and immediately threw it on mute.

Next up on the Suckeyes schedule....yes, the Aztecs from SDSU. Columbus Tech should be embarrassed over their schedule...again.
