UConn looks god awful. Towson appears to be the better of the 2 teams.

UConn's QB sucks and they have gotten dominated in the trenches on both sides of the ball. They are in for a really long season. They have Michigan at home next week. Could be a 60-70 point beating.

UCONN staying alive quick td drive and get the two point conversion. Almost looked like they were going against an FCS team on that drive.

Somehow I was thinking this AAC thing might work out. Well - Tulsa(coming next year) got destroyed and looked awful doing it, and UConn(supposedly one of the better teams) loses to a 1-AA team.

Things can change, but wow, not a good start at all.

Tulsa (in 2014) gets crushed by Bowling Green 34-7.

UConn gets embarrassed by Towson 33-18.

At least UCF wins 38-7 over Akron.

Go Bearcats! 01-ncaabbs

Go (Away) AAC! 01-wingedeagle

Rutgers looks strong. D seems to have reloaded and their WRs are VERY good.

RE: American - Week 1 Football
I know some people are pulling for the teams in the AAC to be successful, so we can show the big boys that we're good too. But I think we need to change our mindset now that the Big East is no longer. The AAC will never be taken seriously on its own. To me, the crappier the teams in the league, the better for us. I'd much rather be 10-2 or 11-1 every year in an awful conference than 8-4 in a merely mediocre conference (just like we used to win 28-30 games a year in basketball). We need to absolutely dominate in football in our awful conference to keep the attention of the national media and the poll voters. I want people to say, the AAC is awful, except for Cincy (just like they do now for Boise St.). I think that's our best bet to getting out of here.

I agree -- the last thing I want is other AAC teams doing well, recruiting well, and challenging the belief that UC is the cream of the crop and the only school in the conference worth taking if a spot elsewhere opens.

100% agree.

We have to be Boise St. Sure they get blasted for being in the MWC and playing no comp on a weekly basis, however year in year out they are respected as a team. It's not about the AAC. It's about the Bearcats. We will have to play, and WIN, in the sorts of games that Boise has over the years. If we do so, we will be just fine.

To be Boise St. UC has to beat a top flight P5 team. You can't just win 10 games every year. Boise started to be taken seriously when they beat Oklahoma and Oregon. UC's lack of respect in the preseason polls every year is because of this. UC lost both of its chances to make a big impact on a big stage.

RE: American - Week 1 Football
Not only does it make UConn look bad, it reflects on the entire league. UConn is supposed to be one of the top programs in the league. I knew they would be near the bottom three. Coaching and recruiting has been nothing short of awful.

I'm very interested in the SMU/Texas Tech game this eveing. That could be quite the event. I know June Jones is a good coach and his teams all play hard. He creamed Pitt two years ago in the Papa bowl. SMU will be near the top of the league.
