He can say he played at uat like his dad and it's his only chance of holding a championship ring (without doing a thing but being a tackling dummy). Let the kid follow his path.

But I do find it BS that he can transfer from UAB to uat, but vica versa is null and void and not happening. hmph FOLD TIDE FOLD!!!

I suspect it is more coming from daddy than just his decision though.

I don't have a problem with him transferring. I have a problem with the powers that be allowing transfers for one but not all. It's not right!

A walk-on at one school going to walk-on at another school isn't a "transfer" is it? I mean, he doesn't have to seek permission if he's not a scholarship player does he?

As long as academically he can transfer, that's all that really matters when it comes to be a walk-on player, right?

I think walkons still have to sit out a year. Of course, since he has never played in a game and probably never will its a moot point.

He probably read the Blazertalk thread when it was announced he was walking on at UAB and didn't feel welcome.

Not a big deal as compared to other players who have left to go there or wanted to come here.

I don't know the rules, don't really care to look 'em up, but I think he may could play this coming year.

UAB isn't losing much so I wouldn't stress out too much about it. The kid will so far back on the bench that his jersey might not even have his last name on it.

Since he was a non-scholarship player he didn't have to ask for a release or anything so he's free to go anywhere and play. The rules are different for player who are actually on scholarship.

You only have to sit out a year if you were a recruited walkon. And that is determine by if he checked the box on a NCAA form you have fill out when you first report to campus. At least that is how I remember it. This happened in 2010 when Jay Benson (a walkon punter) transferred to play at bama. They let him come out for the spring then cut him, and told him to come back next spring.

Was he on the team last year? I think he was in school at bama last year anyway. So he should be eligible no matter what.
