5. Big XII - 24,867

Reactions:
1. ...and that's without UL in the ACC!

2. The SEC is underrated. It beats out the Pac. (it breaks my heart to say that, bc I have a soft spot for the Pac, but it's true)

3. The A10 is ranked where it should be, but it's better than people give it credit for.

I think the B12, SEC, and MWC are being underrated some. Also, the American with UConn, Memphis, Louisville, and Cincy seems a little stronger than the BE right now.

Homer pick much? No way is the MWC better than the American, and I'm not even sure why ESPN put CUSA in this poll. They are NR.

Let's compare. We will both have 11 basketball teams 2014-present.

New Mexico-Memphis AAC
UNLV-Connecticut MWC
Colorado State-Cincinnati AAC
San Diego State-Temple MWC
Boise State-East Carolina MWC
Air Force-UCF Equal
Utah State-Tulsa MWC
Fresno State-Houston MWC
Wyoming-Tulane MWC
Nevada-Southern Methodist AAC
San Jose State-South Florida AAC

Overall, yes the MWC is better than the AAC.

#4 for the American is pretty good for a conference that hasn't played one game yet. I think we can get to #2 or #3 in a best-case scenario.

#3 in BB and #6 in FB wouldn't be horrible.

I really think it's up to UConn. They need a consistent national championship contender to be thought of as an elite league. They've been a top 10 level program for twenty years now and I think Ollie can continue that success but it remains to be seen for sure.

Cincinnati, Memphis, and Temple are great too and should usually rotate between 2-4 and occasionally win the league. As an aside, I don't think people realize how good Temple has been through the years out of the A-10. They made the NCAA tournament for 12 consecutive years from 1990-2001 and currently six years in a row from 2008-2013 and are the 6th winningest team of all time behind Kentucky, Kansas, UNC, Duke, and Syracuse.

The problem with the league is depth. Schools like Houston and SMU really need to step up to be considered on par with the Big12 and Big East which both have a lot of depth in their leagues.

One team may have gotten to the second round. This is the 2nd year in a row that the MWC teams were basically done in their first games.
