RE: UAB buys Hardy Corp. facility
Last time I saw bammer play, my father-in-law had tickets and I could not decline. Southern Miss pounded them at Legion Field. Bammer had a new coach named Stallings, and they'd handed out souvenir cups with his picture and the Drunken Bear, and this brunette chick with enormous breasts was walking through our section asking for them and then leaping up and down on them while cursing Stallings. It was quite a show. John Whitcomb started for Southern Miss at quarterback and then some guy wearing #4 took over.
I don't want to watch them lose - I am offended that such a corrupt program is allowed to exist.

I have watched them on TV...
when they loss to Utah, when they loss to auburn, and when they loss to Texas A&M (which was my favorite while I was deployed and gave me something to laugh about the rest of my deployment).
If you ever meet you can ask my wife how i feel about uat. If my kids wound up playing for them I will go to every AWAY game I can to see them play. If forced to go to a home game, I'll buy tickets through the away teams ticket office wear UAB big as heck and sit in the visitors section rooting as loud as I can against them.
But that's just me. man's got to stand by his principles.

Maybe if we beat them, someone could vandalize the dragon statue at Bartow, and then we could build a new one that smokes and is the right color green.
We could play Bama at Legion Field as a neutral site game after we get the OCS.

Can you imagine what it would be like around here if the NCAA imposed the "death penalty" or an extensive (3 years or more) postseason ban on them blamers? They would really go "Updyke" then!

They've got everyone from the sports media, city hall and mont-gumpery in their back pocket.

I happened to be a season ticket holder there that season. I think that was my last season as a season ticket holder.
They lost the 1st 3 games with Stallings that year & they were extremely pissed.
I happened to think that he was a decent coach, however he benefited mostly by being over the program than they did with him.
I liked the program under Curry at the time and didn't understand then why he left. It became apparent later on.
What is really disturbing is the focus there at winning at all costs.

The odds of you watching only three games by Alabama, all of which were losses, considering their records during those seasons...means you pretty consistently watch them. You couldn't have known they would lose, especially during their come from behind loss to Auburn, so you watched them with the expectation of watching them play, not watching them lose.

nothing else needs to be said about their fanbase where a 10 win season gets a brick through your window or the most 2 recent events

It's got nothing to do with "betraying" UAB, and everything to do with that I don't like that school, don't want to sit with its idiot fans, and don't want a single dime of mine to enter their coffers.
That was my point about Bama playing "IN B'HAM". They won't be playing in Legion Field under any other circumstance.
With all due respect, my friend, where would they have gone if that 4/27 F-5 had leveled bryant-denny-updyke stadium? City Hall would have begged them to come back and play at "the icon"...what a
& by the way, I'm with Smaugweiser, unless they're playing the Blazers, I have zero interest in seeing alabama crimson tide football or anything else (to include the so-called iron bowl), Birmingham and all that's in it that represents the city in sports are non-factors in their eyes, & still our so-called leaders and some of our citizens fawn all over them and the syndicate (sec) like New Yorkers did with John Gotti. I would rather walk up to a pride of Lions in the Serengeti and try to one of them while they're feasting on a kill than see them play, in person or on TV...How are you this morning?
Had the 4/27/11 tornado rendered B-D Stadium too badly damaged to use by 9/1/11, Bama probably would have rented the GA Dome for its major home games before they would come back to B'ham. Money for such is no object there. Had that failed to work out for some games, they might have shifted those "home" games (swapping out) to other SEC stadiums. With feelings running as they did then, everyone concerned would have jumped at the chance to help "poor Bama" out in its time of distress. Returning to legion field would have been so far down the list of alternatives, that it would have probably been one above "Cancel the game".

You would just have people claiming they never go to that forum.

Actually the odds are not that great when you factor in:
Utah: strength of schedule and the opportunity to show a bammer that they don't know as much about football as they think they do.
Auburn: when you are at work in another room and someone comes in and tells you that Auburn has come back and you go in to watch.
Texas A&M: when you are listening to UAB online and while surfing facebook you see constant post from bama fans about "what the heck?!?" and non bammas cheering so you turn over to the game and watch uat loose.
In this day and age of instant messaging, facebook, and what have you, you can decide not to watch a game and have someone text you or post when something is going on. SO I think the odds of me not watching them until those exact time ar pretty good. So no I don't watch bamma games just to see them loose. I tune in when they are loosing.
Whats your excuse?

So, that Hardy Corp. Building looks like a pretty nice place for a stadium.
