I think I'll take two bricks, one permanent season ticket seat, and small fries for the win Pat.

Quote:"It could be used for a number of initiatives that are not yet finalized," she said, adding that the University of Alabama System board of trustees approved the plan to purchase the building in February.

A new site for a graduation facility seating 30k, fully upgradable, and plenty of grass.

I had a ticket to that game, but had to give it to a friend at the 11th hour, told me afterward that he had a wonderful time, even though he had no real allegiance to either team. My allegiance is with Conference USA in any and all postseason events when they're going against schools from other conferences. For what it's worth, I agree with you about Legion Field. Hope the Ponies have a fun experience in the AAC. It's been my personal experience when it comes to UAB athletics, particularly football, not to get my hopes up too high anymore, after what happened in November of 2011 with the OCS proposal, I'd just as soon wait to hear something more concrete and definitive about what this transaction really means. I'll be among the first to buy 2 season tickets for the first 3 years of its' grand opening, should an actual stadium come out of this, & some of my fellow Blazertalkers here in Bham can meet me at that brewery across the street from the baseball park to celebrate, the first round of "Blazeweisers" will be on me. But, I've seen enough episodes of "Peanuts" to know what UAB football is up against from a bureaucratic standpoint. Pardon my skepticism...Once bitten, twice shy...

RE: UAB buys Hardy Corp. facility
I cheered for SMU that year. Was a fun game. The purchase of the new land is VERY significant. I've spoken to numerous people who worked there and they knew the reason UAB wanted the land was a stadium. They were fine with relocating but the two sides were far apart on the price. The fact that it has been resolved and purchased is a feather in the Blazer's cap.

Unfortunately, stadiums aren't built with feathers.

RE: UAB buys Hardy Corp. facility
If I read the article accurately, UAB will not take actual possession of the property for at least two years while Hardy finishes moving out. BTW, Where are they moving their machinery et al? I hope they are not moving out of town like Red Diamond. Also, how old are these buildings anyways? Could they be serviceable to UAB for other than our hoped for purposes?
