@ New Mexico W
Oklahoma St L
@ Arizona L
Houston L

The homer in me wants to put 2-2 but I think 1-3 is more realistic. New Mexico has a 2nd year coach and traditional FBS bottom feeder program. The Houston game is going to be closer than people think. OSU and ARI are going to kick our teeth in.

9/7 - @ North Carolina - L - One of those games where we could pull out a win if everything goes our way, but I tend to be a bit realistic when predictiPng games like this
9/14 - v. Memphis - W - Should take a win here if we don't hurt ourselves too much
9/27 - BYU - L - Magic underpants will lead them to victory

2-2?

After watching the way our Blue Raiders manhandled Georgia Tech at their house last year, I believe the Blue Raiders have a legitimate shot to win every time they take the field.

RE: How do you think your team will fair in OOC games?
Texas State in Hattiesburg - W
at Nebraska - L
at Arkansas - Probably a loss....but they have a new coach/qb...it's possible we could sneak out a win ala La-Monroe in '12
at Boise State - L

2-2 would be sweet. 3-1 would be freaking sweet......but we'd probably get all cocky...and then lose to FIU at home in true USM fashion.

Objective or homer?
I'll rank them from most to least likely to win.

Northwestern State - We haven't lost to a FCS school since becoming fully FBS. I don't expect it to happen this year either.
@Troy - 50/50. Winning this game would go a long way toward making the season successful.
@Vandy - They're no LSU but they certainly aren't the Vandy most people think of any longer. Not likely to win but if the stars align properly.
@LSU - Do we have a chance? OF COURSE! The last time we went to Baton Rouge we actually played defense; we haven't done that often enough recently. UAB winning would be on the level of an App St/Michigan upset.

Well, all of our games are OOC games.. so 8-3 maybe? Losses at ECU, Maryland, and UNC. We could win one of those, but I don't know.

I think it will be a tough learning experience.

However I think, unlike last year, our team will actually play hard and come away a better team. I'm expecting for us to get beat pretty soundly by Nebraska, Arkansas, and Boise due to a number of factors but not as embarrassingly so as last year. We will be battle hardened come conference play.

God I hope that happens. Like outside of our OOC games, I want that to happen more than anything else during this college football season.

04-cheers

Hope so. It would be FANTASTIC to beat the Holes on their home field. It would probably be a top 2 or 3 highlight of my entire ECU fandom. (2002-Present)

Our FBS games are all away. ECU, MD, Pitt, Idaho, and UNC. ODU probably goes 8-4 with Idaho being our sole FBS victory. Pitt and UNC look to be the two most formidable opponents (the Pirates will be no cakewalk either.) Anything better than 8-4 will be a fantastic season for the Monarchs, anything less than 7-5 will be a bit of a disappointment.

EJ was beaten before he even stepped onto the field at nebraska. and that was his high-water mark.

I just hope the Blue Raiders can live up to Coach Fuente's high expectations of Memphis's competition.

RE: How do you think your team will fair in OOC games?
Honestly, I think 2-2 is doable for USM...

Texas state _should_ be a win
Nebraska a likely loss (but if there's anyone I think could coach an upset win on the road, it's the Monk!)
Arkansas .. honestly, I'm thinking this one _should_ be a win. Arkansas is doing a complete rebuild of their staff and roster
Boise State... Likely loss.

3-1 at worst. Anything less and Marshall's in for another long year.

One thing is certain. Our boys won't quit on this coaching staff...and visa versa....and they WILL be in shape.

I'm going 8 4 this year. The boys will be out played at ecu but after that pride will take over. I think we have a good chance for the 8 4. I think the adjustments and how we handle them will tell the whole story.
