I think Apogee Stadium is very impressive, especially it's LEED Platinum rating.

JDTulane,

You obviously have never been to Apogee. Last I checked Tulane didn't even have their own stadium. IMO that makes Tulane look CHEAP.

I like Apogee.

Ooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh good one. Currently Tulane plays in the Superdome so I'm not complaining about facility niceness. But I wasn't aware that any sharing of opinion must be coupled with dick measuring tactic.

Are there even chairbacks in this nice stadium?

I know Tulane plays in the Superdome. That's why I called you out. Tulane doesn't have a football stadium. They have to borrow or rent an off campus location for their games. In other words, they are fielding a football team on the "CHEAP".

Of course we have chair backs in the stadium. The entire club level. We even got nice logos on the chairs.

The suites have very nice leather seating just like the Dallas Cowboys stadium. Apogee was designed and built by the same company.

Apogee is a very nice stadium.

It is designed to be, but no need to build it so big that it looks like a ghost town early on if UNT did not get out of the Belt or if for some how attendance projects fall flat. It is set to be expanded in phases that can be finished in a single offseason with much of the underlying support structure already poured and in place. Part of the price of building it was making sure the support structures were in place to expand becasue of the time and cost it takes to do it after the fact.

Essentially the architecturals were leaked, or rather found by someone on the GMG board, because there was RFP out for some work and they included the entire set of prints on the RFP page. So on a side note, keep an eye on your unviersity's request fo bid/proposal pages anf you might get a set of prints to your stadium or arena.. We are already on the look out for the prints for the baseball facility. If you know how to read prints the expansions are pretty easy to see. Combine that with what the AD has said about the potential to expand and the schedule and timeline is pretty easy to figure out.

The Wing is designed to be unbolted and the lower base is at the same height as the bases for either side of the stadium. That I think is either the 1st or 2nd phase of expansion, but I think they would add the expansion on the student side first. The other thing to notice is that the heights line up for the student side to have an expansion of seats and set of luxury boxes to be built to mirror the other side and would allow for it to completely wrap around in a horeshoe as far as luxury boxes go. From there it would be a second deck on both sides.

I think the first add would push the capacity to the low 40's and then the making it a shoe would put it into the 50's. Any extra decks after that would be at a much greater cost and not designed to get done in a single offseason like the first two stages are designed to be.

The Wing Zone's removal has NEVER been included in ANY expansion possibilities. Any removal of the Wing would result in a dramatic drop in seating that a wrap-around horseshoe wouldn't fix. Notice that the Wing is part of the logo and that the brick in the area (and the bridge) is all in the shape of the Wing Zone.

Upper deck on student side pulls it to 45K.

Any plans detailing the Wing Zone's removal were due to a UNT grad's (architect) possible addition ideas, as you can see his video on YouTube.

False. This statement is completely incorrect. Laxtonto was correct.

And, wow, a Tulane fan talking crap? Let me know when you have fans come to your games. Or, hell. Even your own stadium.

Talking crap? The pictures you all consistently post of your stadium do not impress. Sorry I'm not sorry. Nice attendance smack. That'll get you popular on here.

My son was invited to the UNT camp here in San Antonio today. There was some good talent out there & the kids competed hard. I was impressed by the way Coach McCarney and his staff ran the camp. One of the better camps my son has been to.

For all of his detractor McCarney is definitely a hell of a coach and can run a pretty good camp. I have even heard great things from the ISU fans I know about his ability to run a camp and supposedly he made a pretty good impact in S. FL with his skills as a DL guy as well

"It's a Taj Mahal. It is an unbelievable facility. I think I've been to every college stadium that's ever been built and this is really, really something special. I came up here a week ago just see it, and the attention to detail is unbelievable.........
A Big 12 Conference Interim Commissioner Chuck Neinas Quote: " I would say based on what I know about facility construction, they are getting a [great] deal for $78 million. It will be a top-notch venue that will complete the athletic complex.

I think Apogee Stadium after final cost were in actually cost more in the range of $100,000,000 if not a tad higher.
