We'll have the more appealing program and recruit better athletes due to our exciting record breaking offensive scheme. They'll want to come here instead of that run run and run again cure for insomnia.
We'll probably see GSU back to the Southern Conference before too long.
Thanks and good luck
Keep telling yourself that buddy. One thing Georgia Southern has never been is boring. And don't get me started on "record setting" because we OWN you in that category.
Facts -
ODU has the record for most passing yards in a season (Tyler Heineicke 5076) and most passing yards in a game (Heinicke 730) and he also holds 2 other lowest interception % records. 1 kid - 4 records
GSU holds the records for most rushing yards in a career (6559 by Adrian Peterson) AND most rushing yards in a season by a QB (Jayson Foster 1844), most rushing touchdowns career (Adrian Peterson 84), most rushing touchdowns by a QB season (Chaz Williams 27), most consecutive games with over 100 rushing yards (Adrian Peterson 48). We also hold the record for longest field goal made in a game at the FCS level (63 yards, Tim Foley 1987 vs JMU). 4 kids - 6 records
Oh yeah, 1 more record for you... 6 (SIX) national championships. How many does ODU have? BTW... we are also the fastest team to go from start up to champions. Yeah, you missed that one too.
BTW - GSU's records do not include playoff yardages unlike ODU's.
If you count Adrian's playoff games, he rushed for a total of 9145 yards and 111 touchdowns for an average of 160 yards per game! (If we're doing the math, AP had 1483 more yards rushing than your boy had passing in his entire season playoffs included)
ODU has a record setting player. Without Heinicke, your team would not be what they were the past 2 seasons. Sorry, he's just a special player who you are very, very lucky to have. Georgia Southern has a record setting offense.Year in and year out, we have kids who either set records or come close. The facts are laid out for you in ANY record book.
Now, will either team continue to play at their current level when moving to FBS? Honestly, Georgia Southern has a much better chance of maintain this level of excellence because we've been doing it for many, many years. We don't rely on grabbing that one special player (although we've done that on several occasions). Once Heinicke is gone, ODU will become another run of the mill team struggling to win 5 games a season while our recruiting level will increase and we will start to gain more top level recruits.
