Wouldnt be surprising.And another reason why we need to be playing CUSA OOC;to develop rivalries and interest/

This comes up every offseason and I just don't see it happening. It would be a deathblow to the bottom halves of those conferences in terms of interest and donations.

Won't happen. As soon as they beat each other up and have to play away games where they don't make any money instead of guarantee games, they will realize they were dumb. Some probably already know that.

UK would never allow it. The Big 12, ACC, and bottom tier of PAC BIG AND SEC would never let it pass.

It would cement the pecking order in those leagues.

Some of those schools make a living selling hope for as long as they can early in seasons and squeaking into bowl games. This would hurt that.

hope is ALL UK football sells...they had 50k at their spring game...i bet they average gate attendance less than that this season...

While I actually think it makes sense on a certain level, the bottom line is that the $EC teams (and the other BC$ schools) are not going to want to give up the 8-9 game home schedules they currently enjoy in order to accomodate such a format.

Programs like Arkansas and Ole Miss would be in for a tough time.

Isn't hope what the other conferences ride on too? Hope of BCS busting or breaking into the next level?

Yes so this system would kill all hope for every one except bama...thus the reason that saben supports it...

Technically the small schools do have hope. UK does not, but they continue to sell a false sense of it...

We also can win conference championships and our players can get rings.

That really is...or used to be...the goal. Winning championships.

You can criticize leagues, but if you can never have hope of winning the league you are in what is the point? Is sports only about the money? You are just sort of a remora cleaning the gills of your master if you are in that situation.

This will hurt everyone.

Even the top tier programs who are used to having 8 home games on an annual basis will have to give that up.

Schools that often win 7-9 games will find themselves on the cusp of .500 far more often and programs that are often on the cusp of .500 will drop to the 2-4 win total more often than not and then the Kentuckys of the world will somehow fall even further.

I'm sure Bill Battle will get right on Nick's suggestion once Nick tells him exactly what he is willing to cut from the football budget to pay for that.

It will never work because you will have the two FBS systems within the NCAA. Then you are back to square one which is two National Championships within the same NCAA Division.

I'd actually approve of this.

With all the bowl games needing two teams, and if they did that 1/2 the teams would have losing records, so
bowl criteria would have to be changed if they did just play each other.

I agree. I don't think supporters of this have thought through the math.

Plus this would be an admission that the bowls do not mean anything.
