1...I actually heard the entire interview live...he did mention the Network...unfortunately SiriusXM only played a partial clip in their free download...but @ the end of the Interview Brando was surprised he even went into the details of the coming Network...also, the entire interview might be on the CBS Sports site....not sure.

2. Watch the SEC Network Annoucement today....it could provide a blueprint on what the ACC/ESPN could be doing in the near future.

Finally, as long as the 15 Presidents @ the schools that are full/partial members of the ACC are satisfied that all that matters...it is what it is...07-coffee3

Practically, that whole article is discussing the potential of an Acc Network. No one has said it is a done deal at this time, but there have been articles with ACC officials discussing creating a network. Its far more likely that an ACC Network will happen than not. Thats not grasping.

every interview i've heard or read since the GOR indicate the ACC will have a conference dedicated network. the only real question left is what distribution model they choose, is it a digital network like espn3, a traditional rsn or a combination of the two

There will be a network. The question is what form and what $. It might just be a digital network. I don't see how they get much more $ out of something they have already sold.

they already have a Digital network up & running, Raycom has already built a studio & leased production space inside the extremely high tech building that was to be the foundation a" Nascar Network". they currently broadcast limited games via youtube so it's really only a matter of moving content from schools websites & espn3 if that's the model they choose

Those will be nationally televised if Lou continues their current trend. Syracuse was for basketball. I do not deny that. Pitt, I'm still skeptical about. I don't know what to make of them. With the right coach I believe they could win. I don't know if that's Chryst or not. Either way, Pitt does make for some attractive match ups with Virginia Tech, UVA, BC, Miami. The jury is still out on them.

As for the attendance thing, I believe the SEC's attendance will continue to grow. A&M is about to go over 100k on their stadium as an example. I believe the Big 12 will continue to drop some. WV and TCU can't make up for Missou and A&M. Big 10 will drop once they add Maryland and Rutgers. Pac 12 will be stagnate, but I do believe the ACC will rise by a good amount and will pass the Pac 12 soon. The problem is you insist on making the ACC #5 no matter the discussion. Even when they pass the Pac 12 in attendance you will still say they are #5

Nope, I have nothing against the ACC and will call it as it is. I grew up in ACC territory and love ACC hoops. Football has always been weak but have fond memories of watching Maryland play at Byrd stadium against ACC foes.

ACC football television ratings will get a boost thanks to Notre Dame, that deal was a real coup for the ACC, probably saved it. Louisville is much more uncertain. They had a great year this past season but still finished in a 4-way tie for the Big East title, and the previous four years they were 4-7, 6-6, 7-5, and 5-7 playing in the Big East, so we don't know if 2012 is a harbinger of things to come or a temporary aberration. One thing the Cards have in common with the old ACC is that basketball is #1 on their campus and among their fans. That's one reason why ACC football struggles so much.
Why do you always have to add nonsense to your points to make them? Tell us, wise one, how the ACC would be doomed without a Notre Dame scheduling agreement.

The Notre Dame agreement added a significant amount to the ACC media deal payout, enough to boost it over $20m per school on average. Without that money boost, and the promise of higher home attendance when ND visits ACC stadiums, there probably wasn't enough money to get ACC schools outside of the Carolina/VA core to sign the GoR, and without the GoR the ACC gets dismembered.
Where were they going to go?

None of them want to go to the Big 12. The Big Ten has been on hands and knees begging for at least four of them and getting laughed at despite the buckets of cash all of you claim the Big Ten has compared to the ACC.

Why do you keep making up conspiracy theories?

The ND agreement didn't boost it over 20. ND only added a little over a million. The extra came as a "bonus" for signing the GOR so ESPN didn't have to keep renegotiating contracts. I'm guessing the ACC used it as leverage.

Not sure why ESPN would pay a bonus for signing a GoR. Heck if a GoR was worth that much why has the SEC not signed one? Notre Dame was instrumental in getting the GoR thus saving the AcC.

The GOR has nothing to do with ND. It's tied to the creation of an ACC network that should be announced within the next week. Stop making things up.

I'd love for ND to get the credit for "saving" the ACC.

The bump up to over $20 million per school is tied to the GOR and the ACC Network, though.

In truth, I think that ND and the ACC worked well together since last September.

I think that ND and the ACC had a "joint battle plan" worked out and these moves were made in tandem.

First, ND announced the NBC 10 year contract extension.

Then, ND/ACC announced the three year rotation whereby ND would play every single ACC school in football. Every single one, not a chosen few like many thought.

They announced that ND would first travel to FSU and to Clemson. That was part of the plan to make those school happier about the ACC.

Then, the ACC announced that every one of the fifteen current and future ACC schools signed the ten year GOR.

It is no coincidence that the new ND/NBC deal and the new ACC GOR both have ten year terms.

This was all planned out well by ND and the ACC. They were also very stealthy about everything. No leaks, no "insiders".

But, no, the ACC GOR was signed as part of the ACC Network, not solely or predominately because of ND.

I do think ND will be a fairly big part of that network, though.

Yep -- that pretty much nails down the orchestrated sequence of events.

That said, way back when it was first announced that ND agreed to play 5 games, Swarbick stated publicly that the ACC would select the rotation, not ND. Nice, though, to see the two parties honor that :)

Yep, ND provides its open dates and the ACC sets the teams.

Some Doubting Thomas' questioned that announcement, but it turned out as advertised.

It makes sense that ESPN would want ACC stability before doing a network, but many ACC schools would not sign a GoR unless the money was better, and there is no reason to think ESPN would just give more money, a lot more, on that basis. The value of the asset had to go up, and Notre Dame made it go up.

If the ACC wasn't about to be dismembered there would have been no GoR signed. Both the he B1G or SEC could have easily taken several ACC schools.

Simply astonishing to me that ND agreed to let the ACC commissioner fill out a big chunk of it schedule. 01-wingedeagle

None of them want to go to the Big 12. The Big Ten has been on hands and knees begging for at least four of them and getting laughed at despite the buckets of cash all of you claim the Big Ten has compared to the ACC.

Why do you keep making up conspiracy theories?

If the ACC wasn't about to be dismembered there would have been no GoR signed. Both the he B1G or SEC could have easily taken several ACC schools.

So everyone who has a GOR signed did so to avoid getting destroyed?

The SEC could have Clemson or FSU. They want neither. They could not get UNC, NC State, UVA or Va Tech.

The Big Ten tried to get UVA, UNC, GT, and FSU. They went 0-4.

Again, stop making up stuff.

Are you telling me the B1G couldn't take Louisville, BC, Syracuse, and Pitt instantly? And if the SEC took Clemson and FSU, ACC football value plunges to nothing.

You are living in a deluded Carolina dreamland if you think the B1G and SEC couldnt have dismantled the ACC- before the GoR.

Seems like the Big Ten tried and failed to dismantle the ACC.

I already acknowledged the 2 schools the SEC could get if they wanted them. But it wouldn't destroy the ACC. That's more made up nonsense. If the Big 12 can survive with Texas, Oklahoma and 8 nobodies then the ACC would survive with Miami, VT, UVA, UNC, GT, Pitt, Louisville, NC State, Syracuse and BC.

I'm in a world of reality that the Big Ten isn't capable of doing squat to the ACC. They tried and failed. There is no speculation there and just plenty of facts.

Simply astonishing to me that ND agreed to let the ACC commissioner fill out a big chunk of it schedule. 01-wingedeagle

They were getting to the point of having to fill in Western Michigan, Tulsa and the like. Their options were limited in late October and November.

The ACC is the best place for ND. Hands down.

It sure beats the AAC. It also beats the Big East (C7).

I also happen to think a partial ACC membership beats a partial Big 12 membership by a long shot from ND's perspective.

What proposed alternative would you have given Jack Swarbrick last fall that would have secured a great home for other sports, a set of minor bowl options, Southeast football games for recruiting purposes, an Orange Bowl option and good November (FSU, Clemson, Miami, Virginia Tech) games on the schedule while keeping control of seven games and the NBC contract?

If you have one, I sure wish you would have emailed Jack Swarbrick last September.
