Solid point on evolution and genetics. Homosexuality is one genetic trait that seems evolution would elminate over time.
That depends. If there was a homosexual gene, it could've been kept alive and well through people acting against that preference for thousands of years. Culture has made us go against our own genetics since man first stood straight.
I don't know the exact source (it's Google-able if you want) but I read an article earlier this year of a researched link between an "attraction gene". Since all fetuses start out female, the natural attraction is to males. Supposedly some gene doesn't get switched or does, determining orientation. Research is ongoing, I believe, but it's interesting.
What about the females who are into the females?
Just the opposite - the gene that shouldn't switch for them does, altering their attraction from males to females. Quite an interesting topic, eh?

I may keep an eye on it. Just because I don't necessarily believe it, doesn't mean that I won't look for change.

Not nearly as hot in real life as it is on the internet.
I'll be here all week. Try the veal.

I didn't say he would start. But he will be playing in the NBA next year. Probably just not for DeVos/Amway.

I'd think the 30+ million dollars he's earned during his 12 year NBA career would be legacy enough.

People don't talkt about Jackie Robinson and his awesome Contract deal.. The talk about him for smashing a boundry and being a very good player.
Nobody would be talking about this guy in 5 years were it not for him being gay..

All that money and before today if you had asked just about anyone if they knew about him, you would've gotten a large resounding "Who?" If he had retired without coming out, they wouldn't even have mentioned his retirement on the Wizards' website.

And as a Gay man working in a field rife with homophobia, I'd bet he would have loved nothing more than for it to not be an issue. I'm tired of having to explain to clients why I can't go to Russia or the Middle East. Or having to not answer questions as to "what did you do last weekend?" or "are you single?" (I don't mind those questions, but I don't want to not answer them honestly).
There ARE cases (much fewer than those on the right claim) where people just play the Gay card. This does NOT appear to be one of those. Of course, he's going to support dignity (equal rights) for Gay persons. But I think he just got sick of hiding.
He's a legitimate player in the NBA. He's probably coming back as a reserve next year.
Its long overdue. Putting yourself out there for abuse is never easy.

That's the problem, no one will be talking about him as a ball player even if he was a MVP now. That's why what he did was so brave. You see it as some benefit to him. I don't see it that way. Its still a hinderance in many ways. There are now two owners that won't have him on their teams (Utah and Orlando). The influence of the religious anti-Gays from the FCA etc is very strong in male sports.
In high school he broke the 31 year old rebounding record. In college, he was a third team All-American and a first team PAC-10 selection. In the pros, he has been a reserve, but he has been playing in the NBA for 14 years. He's not Wilt Chamberlain, but his career isn't chopped liver. I even remember him from his Stanford days.
My guess is that someone will pick him up for another season. Not because he's gay, but because 7 footers reserves who can play defense don't grow on trees and usually don't come with 14 seasons of NBA experience.

I didn't call you out about anything other than making up numbers. Even more brazenly, you made up a number for a made up premise. There is no evidence to support your general claim, and obviously no evidence to support your percentage. So, tell me again, why do I need evidence to debunk your imaginary claim?
I didn't make up any numbers or premise. I stated my opinion and it is my opinion. I never stated it as fact. If someone instinctually exhibits the characteristics on another gender, there is some chromosonal deformity there... opinion, but a logical one, no?

I'd say so. Humans didn't evolve that way. The left loves to say us righties hate science then ignore it when the discussion turns to evolution, reproduction and homosexuality. I'm not the one saying being gay is a choice. Biology is.
Positive rep me or I'll sell you to gypsies.
How do you know homosexuality isn't simply evolutions version of population control? Remember, homosexual behavior has been observed in some 1,500 different species in nature.
Weak. I can't think of one single "genetic" abnormality, that precludes the possibility of reproduction, existing for more than a brief amount of time in human history.
Not that gays can't reproduce just that most never will. Please keep in mind that I could care less that this guy is gay. I think of him like to do Tebow. Neither one are very good and are famous because of a hot issue. Sad really. Neither one will or should be remembered.
Positive rep me or I'll sell you to gypsies.

Horse Manure... If Kobe came out tomorrow he would still be talked about as one of the greatest of all time. Jackie Robinson is not just "The first
Black player"... He was one of the best of his day! Any baseball man will tell you that.
Tiger woods is huge... And nowhere near the first Black professional golfer, but he is one of the best (black or white) of all time..

Brave would have done it before his career winding down. I don't think he is doing it for the publicity or anything but I really don't care one way or the other.

First of all any professional NBA player put up similar HS and college numbers... In the NBA he's been pedestrian. *THATS NOTHING TO BE ASHAMED OF* the dumbest doctor in the world is still called Doctor.

I am glad that most people are educated. I cannot fault the ignorant on this issue. They believe it is a choice because they choose to believe its a choice. Evolution is ridding society of this way of thinking, because education is bringing awareness. Gay Pride Parades serve the purpose to educate. More and more straight people are participating.
When you call it a deformity or a result of sexual abuse you are choosing dangerous words for young people out there who are struggling with these feelings. You are writing their suicide notes.
Everyone knows a gay person weather you know they are gay or not. Since Homo sapiens evolved, homosexuality has been around. Nature vs Nurture, I believe its a little bit of both.
In VA sodomy is still the law, Gays can be fired for being suspected of being gay, and we all know about the marriage thing. So Gays do not have the same rights. Gays pay taxes, however the they do not have the right to life, liberty, or the pursuit of happiness as a hetero does. So the constitution should read all Heterosexual Men are Created Equal. Are we a Democracy or are we a Theocracy?

And people who assume its set at birth have decided that the only complex human behavior that is 100% Nature is sexuality... Because if you suggest for a minute that that something might have happened to push a person one way or another some self righteous moron starts waxing on about how you hate people.

I utterly fail to see how a theorhetical HETEROSEXUAL relationship (e.g., you marrying your mother) has anything to do with Gay people.
Feel free to keep using that as your argument. Its not working for you guys though.
By the end of this year, five more states will legalize Gay marriage. If the Supreme Court doesn't beat them to the punch by legalizing it nationally first.
