Total domination that second period. Got three but had another three or so really good chances. Could have easily been five or six.

Erat was back and scored. Maybe we'll get something out of him after all.

Man, just one loss changes things pretty drastically. Going in to last night's games, it was looking like Tuesday might not even matter. Now with a Caps loss and Jets win, just hoping it doesn't end up being a chance for Winnipeg to pass us. Hopefully we can pull a win over Montreal tomorrow and Winnipeg goes down against the Isles. Get it back to making Tuesday a chance to clinch.

Nice bounce back win after the beat down in Ottawa and can clinch the division Tuesday. Ovi gets to 30 on the year but his assist to Backstrom might have been his best play on the night.

Troy Brouwer is quietly having a real nice season. He's a big part of why they aren't really missing Semin all that much. His previous career high is 22 goals in an 82 game season. He's got 19 so far this year.

Crap, the Jets won tonight. Whoever wins tomorrow leads the division (must be in regulation for the Jets). A loss wouldn't be devastating as the Caps have a game in hand, but if the Caps win in regulation then it's over and the Jets are done (at least for the division title).

Yeah, a Winnipeg loss last night would have been nice and would have came real close to clinching. Winnipeg would need to win out and need the Caps to lose out. Still, a regulation win tonight clinches it. Even if the Jets win tonight and win their last game, we're still good if we win the last two.

Let's just get a regulation win tonight and spend the last two games trying to get Ovi lots of goals and points haha.

we clinch even if we win the game in OT or a SO. That would leave us at a 54 point tie at worst, and we hold the tie breaker with 4 wins in that scenario. We'll be at a 53 point tie tonight if we lose to them in OT.

Actually total wins (minus shootout wins) comes before head-to-head points. Caps and Jets were tied in that stat going into the game. So if we had won in a shoot out Jets could have still taken the division if they won their last game in regulation or OT and Caps lost their last two in regulation.

Ovi's gotta be MVP now right? Man, I hope he takes #1 in points too in the next couple games. Should have had another assist tonight if MoJo hadn't missed!

Solid half year for DC sports. Nats win the NL East, Skins win NFC East and now the Caps win the Southeast...if only one of these teams could get out of the freaking first round.

Ovi is has got to be at least one of the finalists. He's been the best player by far over the last 25 games or so. I have a feeling the voters will discount him because of the slow start, though. It will probably end up going to Crosby due to his point production per game. He'd have run away with the Ross if not for getting hurt. If it doesn't go to Crosby due to the games missed (which didn't seem to matter all that much to the Penguins) then I think Tavares of the Islanders wins it.

The scoring lead will be tough for Ovi. He needs at least four in the last two games just to pass Crosby. I have a feeling the Caps will limit the ice time of the top lines and give the 3rd and 4th line more work. He'll still be in for the power plays I'd imagine. St Louis and Stamkos are also both ahead of him right now with nothing else to play for (and a game in hand). They're both going to be gunning for it too and getting the ice time.

Yeah, most sites and everything seem to be saying they think Ovi will get the Hart. I really think it's gotta be him or Crosby, some are going to vote Crosby because of how dominant he was when healthy, but I think most will vote Ovi because of how valuable he's been to his team and because Pittsburgh has been fine without Crosby. I think Ovi should get the Hart, Crosby should get the Lindsay.

But yeah, I'd love to see him take #1 in points as well as goals, but it does seem pretty unlikely. Maybe if we get lucky and have lots of power plays in these last couple games. My bet for points would be on St. Louis. I can't stand that dbag though so I hope I'm wrong.

Hat trick for St. Louis tonight. Probably ends the race for the Ross. Stamkos had a goal. Trails Ovi by two with two to play for each.

Ovi becomes the first player to win the Maurice Richard three times, Greenie finishes number 1 in goal scoring for defensemen, and it's payback time for the Rangers. Only thing that worries me is how damn good Lundqvist can be, I would have rather had the Sens or Leafs. Glad we didn't get the Isles though, I think they could be a dangerous team. Regardless, no one is as hot as the Caps are. I'm just trying to decide if I want to go Thursday or Saturday.

I want no part of the Senators right now. They've dealt with major injuries all season but are finally getting healthy and playing well at the right time. Would not be surprised to see them knock off Montreal.

I would have preferred the Leafs over the Rangers too.

Great game one. I'm feeling pretty good about this series now. Only things I was really worried about were Lundqvist and how the Caps didn't look like they cared a whole lot in those last two games, things like that always make you worry a little about whether or not they'll turn it back on.

Lundqvist did play well last night and made a lot of crazy saves on some really good opportunities. I think a lot of goalies would've given up 5 or 6 goals last night. Not worried at all if the Caps keep playing the way they did, especially if Holtby is gonna play the way he did.

Now up 2-0. Caps looked really really good today for the most part. Dominated in the offensive zone when it got down to crunch time & in OT. Outshot the Rangers 8-0 in about 12 minutes of OT play. Special teams was ultimately the difference with the two late big time penalty kills and the OT winner on the PP. Holtby was awesome.

Backstrom & Erskin need to clean up their act a bit. Both of them had a few 'WTF were they thinking' moments.

Green too. He made up for it with the game winner, but he also had his share of bad moments. He's lucky they didn't score on the one where Holtby left it for him and then he just stared at the puck. Still, take all the same skaters and swap any other goalie for Lundqvist and we run away with both games. Lundqvist has played insane and has been the only thing giving the Rangers any chance, glad Holtby has answered. I think we'll split these two in New York and then finish the series at home Friday. I'd love to see a sweep though.

Yeah, but I've almost come to expect that from Green once or twice a game. Agree with you on Lundqvist. He's been outstanding and will keep every game close.
