One pitch for McDowell ends the inning. DP. Great job, Chase. Still 9-2 Rice heading B7.

RE: Tech vs Rice ... Tuesday
Teykl, batting 9th tonight, is the first Owl to 3 hits. Ratt and Perrott got earlier shots and failed (Aquino was pulled for Williamson before he could try for #3). 1 down for Byrd.

Byrd walks.

Stringer is hit.

Bases full of jazz music, literally! Byrd, Stringer, and Teykl (yes, a teykl is a jazz instrument; one of those rare woodwind instruments from the Baltics).

And Stainback SINGLES home two! 02-13-banana02-13-banana 11-2 Rice.

Williamson flies out to LF. 2 down.

Byrd walk, Stringer HBP loads bases with 1 out.

Aquino was injured - I don't think seriously - on his last AB. Foul ball hit his shin.

From my angle it looked like it hit the top of his foot. Also, that is what he grabbed once he was standing on first

FYI, this is first double-digit runs game since March 20th versus UTSA (W, 11-5). Our season high is 12 versus Harvard three days before on March 17th (W, 12-0). Ah, halcyon days...

McDowell retires the Raiders 3 up, 3 down. 3 outs for the W. No game tomorrow now, and I bet UH is p*ssed about it. We should have our full pitching arsenal rested and ready for the big 3-game set.

Yeah, something about needing extra time for academics. I think Kaplan is only open for PSAT tutoring on Wednesdays.

Us playing well, or Tech playing poorly?

Either way, it sure was nice to see us score some runs.

RE: Tech vs Rice ... Tuesday
Nice to get back to playing quality Rice baseball after the debacle that was this past weekend (and, BTW, UCF got bludgeoned at home tonight by Florida Atlantic). All-around well-played game by the Owls; just what we needed to put the weekend behind us and gear up for this weekend's big series against the Coogs. Also good to see AK back in form and throwing strikes (after his first batter, 4-pitch walk). Hopefully, Aquino is not seriously hurt, as he did look to be in considerable pain. (UNC's stud Freshman, Sky Bolt, broke his fibula this past Friday on a similar foul ball.)

Watched most of the game from the picnic area on Bikini Hill, where one gets a totally different perspective of the game (vs. my usual seat in Section F immediately behind home plate)...but a good one still.

USM beat Ole Miss tonight, and have now reeled off 8 straight wins, during which span their pitching has been exceptional.
