She just got a letter from her Medicare underwriter saying the "affordable" healthcare act only covers one test per day UNLESS her doctor provides written authorization to the Medicare underwriter. ALSO she must begin keeping a daily log of her test results and submit them once a month for the next six months to her pharmacy who will share the results with her Medicare underwriter and relevant OBAMACARE overseers.

REMEMBER under OBAMACARE doctor reimbursements are determined in part by their following the DIRECTED/DICTATED OBAMACARE Choices/Death Panel ordered treatments for the illness in question.

Diabetes IS NOT something that has a large margin of error. IF glucose levels drop too low it's COMA time and there a definite risk of not waking up.

Test strips cost $1 each it's not like the gubment saves big $'s by such a limitation. The cost of treating one comatose patient would wipe out the savings for hundreds of patients limited to one test a day. So it comes back to tell granny to take a pain pill and die, just like Obama said when the whole OBAMA CARE thing started.

I don't think you understand the pointless minutiae that Medicare is trying to control. You don't work in direct patient care, so ill spare you the details, but it is causing lots of problems.

What's different?
1. The level of useless documentation required of her does not exist in a private insurance system.
2. With private insurance you have options--pay for it yourself, sue the insurance company, find another carrier. With Obamacare, nope.
3. Private insurers have to compete for your business. The Obamacare monopoly,nope.
4. Private insurance companies give a damn about their customers, and have at least some accountability on some level. Government bureaucrats don't.

Actually, with Obamacare you will have one option--become a medical tourist, like Brits and Canadians do.

In addition to everything else said, this doesn't do what you think it does. I dare you to get two different prescriptions, much less three, for the same thing and see how that works for you. If the doctor orders three tests, she should get three tests, She shouldn't have to jump through 4000 hoops to do what the doctor ordered, because that only encourages people to NOT do what the doctor ordered. If you/the government think the doctor is wrong/prescribing unnecessary tests, then make the doctor justify it via diagnosis code when he does it. She's not just diabetic, but acutely so... so more frequent tests are authorized.

Social Security and Medicare are not "the dole". These are Insurance plans (not taxes, hence the "I" in FICA) we are FORCED to participate in our whole lives for benefits in the future.
