RE: The North Korean gambit is not working
I think we should all take it more seriously than most of us do.
Sure we could wipe out North Korea, but they could do a lot of damage
in the time that it would take us to do that.
Then you have things like their submarines out there that
could attack out of the blue even after we took out North Korea.

Probably will not happen, but who knows.

I think the little NoorK Nutjob will try something provocative.

A MRBM launch East over the Sea of Japan would have missile staging over the main islands of Japan.

The Japanese might try to intercept the missile, hit part of it with a SM-3 ABM from their Aegis surface combatants, and that gives the Troll an excuse to fight.

Actually, last time, remember when NK and Il'lin wanted bilateral talks with the US over their nuclear program, and Bush refused? He said 6-nation talks only.... China agreed with President Bush at the time. (Rumour had it at one time, that they were about ready to go into NK if 6-country talks couldn't be arranged).

I believe China is in the same train of thought as the US , and has been for quite a while, when it comes to the NK-loons in charge.

RE: The North Korean gambit is not working
Makes you wonder though even how much China is willing to go along with things as they are. North Korea has rejected like @ 3 Chinese Ambassadors in the last few months. One a very high member of the ruling council. Plus they have to know that North Korea could turn their rockets, missiles and nuclear material their way and the longer they wait on a solution the more serious that will become. Really believe the Chinese will eventually manufacture a coup in North Korea. Especially with people in NK starving, and even reports in Indian news of parents in NK eating their children. If true, which personally find hard to believe, this cannot go on much longer without China taking action to have someone in charge looking after the populace much better. Understand they are tired of NK people's stories in the joint Chinese/North Korean manufacturing zone.

While the little peckerhead might have visions of greatness, I'm sure his generals are more rational and realistic. Maybe one of them will end this.

Bill Whittle has an interesting take on the NK situation. I tend to agree with him. Why let the weakest country in the world dictate the terms of the discussion?

Barry's bunch is leading from behind again. What is needed is a strong statement from the U.S. that speaks to the one thing that KJ Un might understand - FEAR. But as long as the pansies in our State Dept. refuse to try and understand NK and the leaders there, nothing will change.

Yeah, NK is a whole different animal than Bin Laden. China didn't give a crap about OBL, it does about NK. That's the difference. Well, that and all those missles pointed at South Korea.

I'm really on the 'diplomacy first'/non-interventionist side of things when it comes to foreign policy. Even with the bad guys. But this 1-for-1 proportionism he talks about is a terrible strategy. NK needs to understand that if they sink one of our patrol boats, their military targets will get pounded for days and days. We have to promise that any attack on us, however small, will be met with a disproportionate response.

I support "speak softly", but you've got to carry the big stick too.
