27 year old and her mother were attacked on a CTA train by a group of teen aged girls. hit with a lock in a tube sock, hair cut and pulled out. just for riding the train. They flicked a cigarette at the woman to start a fight. Law abiding citizens need to protect themselves. I didn't even mention the roving gangs of kids on Michigan avenue. Police are overmatched.

Yes you do. But the big picture is not how this person or any other person defends themselves. The big picture is how to keep the crime from happening in the first place. Step 1 is not concealed carry, it is better parenting. Concealed carry is a last resort, despite the fact that you have the right.

If laws severely restricting gun possession (and eliminating concealed carry), reduce crime, why don't they work in Chicago?

If you are going to say that they don't prevent guns from coming in from other locations, then you are admitting the Chicago laws are a failure. Regardless, the situation in Chicago is a disaster, so Chicago's approach is not working.

I'm really not a concealed carry fan, but it is ridiculous to act like concealed carry doesn't go on at an extreme level already in the city.

you think burglaries will be down in Nelson,Ga? They just passed a law that every home is required to have a gun. Criminals will bypass this town now. Or we will have a lot less criminals. Which isn't a bad thing

Agreed. The ability to have or not have guns is not the issue Chicago should focus on. The problem is a social issue.
