Going to need Blake Fox to put up some zeros to try to give the offense a chance to get going.

EDIT: Some discussion from JP about the relay throw from Cook being cut off from the new 3B (Taylor). JP says that Perrott didn't seem pleased at that cutoff. Can anybody watching the game comment on whether or not there would've been a play at the plate with that throw from Cook?
Throw was late and up the 1b line. Cutting was the right call, but I hope Perrott made the call as it was his to make.
Thanks, T-ball.

I hate to read from the Silver Linings Playbook, but since we've already won the weekend series, maybe we can make some lemonade from Simms' lemons and get Fox some valuable innings. As with Tekyl when Shane went down, it's not the worst thing to get the subs some PT in real-game situations. I think we're all pleased with how it's worked out with Tekyl, the glove he's shown at 3B, and the wood he's flashed at the plate (current slump aside).

Smack, hate to disagree with you, but given the weakness of our schedule, it seems to me that we need to win our games, especially against weak sisters like Tulane, in order to have a solid RPI for the post season and hosting chances. Every game counts. Our conference mates, e.g. ECU, really seem to be having off years.

FYI, Jimmy Baseball in the booth with JP this inning, sharing some great nuggets about the game, foul homers, what the OG's probably telling McCanna on the mound, etc.

A couple of nice catches by Michael Ratterree in RF end the Tulane half of the 4th. Still 4-0 Green Wave. Anybody remember when Mr. Ratterree was our 2B of the future?
Speaking of 2B, that brings us to our Rice Owls Question of the Day, brought to you by Certs ("Good luck getting to second base without Certs"): Who are the top 5 second-basemen in the history of Rice baseball?

Good inning of work by McCanna. Time for the middle of the order to rise to the occasion.

I'll say Cruz, Stringer, Buchanan, Holt, and someone else.

Great hit for Skyler, he's been on a complete tear lately.

Skyler rips one through the pitcher's glove for a 1b. Two on one out.

RE: Tulane game 3
Interesting banter between JP and Jimmy Comerata on taking pitches. Jimmy said he sees the value of making the pitcher work, but it can help the team more if you get a hit, no matter when it comes in the pitch order. "Many a time I'd come back from an 8-pitch at bat and Coach would tell me I should have hit that second pitch up the middle for a single."

RE: Tulane game 3
Ewing smacks a 1-out single, moving Geoff up to second. The aforementioned Mr. Ratterree to the plate. And he flies out to center. 2 down for Kirby. Could really use one here.
EDIT: Bah, Kirby flies out to left. JP makes it sound interesting, but the crowd never surged so perhaps it was routine... 4-0 Tulane going T5.

Rat L8, Taylor L7.
At least the Owls are getting some better swings on this guy.

How's Tulane's remaining bullpen if we can get to this guy next inning?

Both balls were hit well, just in bad spots for Owl fans.
