Tulane game 3
Simms walks the first batter and hits the second. Then the next batter is safe on a sacrifice bunt. Bases loaded. None out. T1.

Can't afford to give free passes to players with batting averages that would even embarrass Mendoza.

1-0.

Fox in for Simms after a lead off walk in the second. We continue to be plagued by inconsistent pitching.

Unfortunate beginning, but we've already won the weekend series. Hopefully the guys can relax and just play ball.

Huh? 30th in ERA, 17th in Hits/9 IP, 24th in Ks/9 IP, 38th in K/BB ratio. I'd say that's pretty damn good.

A bloop single puts runners on 1st and 2nd. Another single scores the guy from 2nd. 4-0 Tulane. Still 2 outs.

EDIT: Some discussion from JP about the relay throw from Cook being cut off from the new 3B (Taylor). JP says that Perrott didn't seem pleased at that cutoff. Can anybody watching the game comment on whether or not there would've been a play at the plate with that throw from Cook?

Simms has been anything but inconsistent this year. I wonder if he's sick or ailing as this is the first time he has struggled with his control. Not sure why we're going with Fox against a right-handed laden lineup.

D1 I realize you think you have all the answer in life, but find someone who can read and get them to read you the definition of inconsistency.

RE: Tulane game 3
Whew. Ratt ends the inning with a deep flyball to the warning track. Bases were loaded. Sounds like it could've been a granny. Lucky to get out of that inning only giving up 1. 4-0 Tulane heading B2. Let's go, bats!

EDIT: And as I type that, I realize why we're such a good pitching school (and perhaps why we struggle at the plate). Owls eat bats.

Ok, I'll do that as soon as you find someone who can teach you a thing or two about baseball.

In an attempt to play peacemaker, I volunteer to do both. I'm happy to teach Ranger about baseball and read D1 the definition of inconsistency. Please contact my assistant to set up times. Thanks.

A consistent pitcher pitches roughly the same, he does not have All American days and then days like today.

A day like today, coupled with some other days like today that we have had from the staff, are the hallmarks of inconsistency.

In other competitive back-and-forth news, Rice goes quietly in the 2nd. 3 up, 3 down. On to T3. 4-0 Tulane.

Throw was late and up the 1b line. Cutting was the right call, but I hope Perrott made the call as it was his to make.
