Vote for ODU"s next Coach
Is anyone down for this? I'll keep a bracket here: http://7citieswitness.com/vote-for-odus-next-coach/

All the voting can be done on this site, a different match up every day until we eventually reach our champion. We would have to start soon like Razor suggested so we can reach a winner before the NCAA Tournament starts.

My current bracket is a rough draft, Coach and other can offer suggestions to clean it up.

What do you guys think? Yes or No?

This could be interesting, if nothing else, simply to pass the time. However, make the vote clear. Would we be voting for our choice or for the person we think is going to end up with the job?

RE: Vote for ODU"s next Coach
If we open the voting tomorrow night and allow 24 hrs for each round we will finish roughly around the start of the tournament.

I just need 4 or 5 more really strong additions to our bracket, maybe Orlando Antigua? I need to remove a few I just added to get to 32. Feedback is appreciated, thanks.

I think you should find room for Kevin Keatts in your bracket.

I think it needs to lean in that direction. This would also help us to do our own research on each candidate and would help educate us on what's out there.

Should the polls be private or public?

Never heard of the guy, just looked him up and now I practically want him as our next coach. Local guy, on Pitino's staff and stole Montrezl Harrell from Va Tech. What's not to like.

Keatts has kicked Greenberg out of the bracket.

Instead of Chris Collins, I think you should go Steve Wojo, I think Wojo would leave before Collins does, but who knows since Collins has coached multiple teams already. It's tough to see either leave since they are waiting for Coach K to be gone.

I currently have both in, and I agree that Wojo is the more likely candidate but for lack of 32 excellent choices I added Collins. I need at least 4 of 5 more really strong suggestions because I added a couple for levity sake.

Pardon my ignorance of whos who, but are there any strong John Belein protege candidates? As much as I hatevWVU and Michigan, always enjoy his offense.

LaVall Jordan sounds almost too good to be true, from both the Butler and Belien tree and excellent recruiter. He's probably lining up a BCS gig but I can add him if we think he's a realistic candidate?

Here is a member of the Beilein coaching tree: Jeff Neubauer, Head Coach at Eastern Kentucky. He could definitely be added to the list of possibilities.

Also, don't forget that Wood has ties to Tom Crean, so a member of his coaching tree (Kenny Johnson) could always be a possibility.

I know everyone is happy that ODU is looking for a new coach but I think Dr. Selig wants someone with ties to the Hampton Roads area. That makes anyones list a lot shorter.

RE: Vote for ODU"s next Coach
It would be insanely idiotic to pass up the next Brad Stevens simply because we want someone who has ties to Hampton roads.

Wood should choose the best available man for the job, there should be no qualifications, take a winner with a proven track record who absolutely knows the game and most importantly of all, plays an EXCITING brand of basketball.

This fanbase has had enough 50 points wins to last a lifetime. To galvanize the fanbase (and more importantly the students), we need to play uptempo basketball. To land top level recruits, we need to play uptempo basketball.

Wood will make the right decision. He made the right decision to get rid of Blaine, I honestly believe he will make the right decision on our coach as well.

The one thing that is for sure is we need an outside hire, someone who will install a different system and start to land big recruits. Corrigan is not the answer. Like the guy, he's been a good servant but 19 years at one school is enough. He should have found a head coaching gig at a small patriot league or northeastern conference school by now. The fact that he's still an assistant after 19 years at the same school is not a good sign.

It might be time for him to move on and for ODU to clean house except for Richardson who should be kept on as a recruiter and to help us keep some of the players we have. But if they decide to move on because Corrigan left, so be it, the new coach will just have a few extra scholarships to fill.

RE: Vote for ODU"s next Coach
Ok, so thanks to DaBigBlue for the idea, Coach for most of the candidates, Ever/Razor for helping to move this forward and anyone else that I may have missed. This has potential to at least be fun and maybe we learn something along the way.

Voting will start tonight at the 9pm and will stay open until for 24 hours. I will be cleaning up the bracket today with legitimate candidates.

I will start a thread pitting #1 Jim Corrigan (who deserves that ranking) against #32 Kenny Johnson (IU assistant)

The next matchup will begin as soon as the first one ends and I will update the bracket and close or delete each thread when polls close.

Here's another name you might want to include: Dino Gaudio.

Would you put Gaudio above Jamion Christian, Milan Brown or Hubert Davis? It's starting to become full but I do want the best candidates.

RE: Vote for ODU"s next Coach
Gaudio is a name, but I don't think he'd be a great fit at odu.

Yeah, he was 61-31 at wake Forrest and made two NCAA tourneys, but he did so with skip prosser's players.

His two stints at "lesser schools" saw him go 36-72 at Army in a crappy Patriot League and 32-52 at Loyola md.

For his career, he is 129-155 as a head coach.
Frankly, we can do much better than Dino Gaudio.

We don't need an old retread, we need an up and coming spitfire to re-energize the players, the fanbase and most importantly, the students. Gaudio isn't that guy.

Ok, I've updated the bracket to 32 fairly legit candidates. This can still be edited up until 9pm when the first rounds begins.

If Alabama let Anthony Grant go, what are everyone's thoughts of going that route?

Not gonna happen this year. I'd take him but I doubt we have a chance.
