attended
thought game was in doubt until final minute. RU played
physical, esp in the first half, and our shooting suffered
as a result.
JJ played a great game, and his energy set the tone
for the second half. Moodge made some nice cuts to
receive close up baskets. But he continues to not
be a physical presence. Yea, he blocks shots, but
ball handlers can usually get their shot off at the basket.
Frequently he has 2 hands on the ball but can't gain
possession.
A loss at home would have be a disaster. Averted.

We had a hell of a lot of dunks. Finally.

Absolutely loved seeing KG in instead of Nyarsuk. I really really really hope that continues.

Cash needs to be smarter with his fouls, inexcusable from a senior.

Jim Burr, sigh.

In the words of the gentleman in Sec. 121 sitting behind Eastside and I: "I spent 5 hours at the hospital last night passing a kidney stone and watching this game is more painful."

Not a work of art. But I will gladly take the W.

Ugly ugly first half. But credit to the boys for sticking with it, grinding to get back in it and get the W. SK turned really active, banked in an early second half shot and just turned it on after that. JJ's energy was productive to say the least. And the team defense just shut them down. We should beat a bad team like that at home a helluva lost easier than we did tonight, but a W is a W and Ws in late January and February in conference aint usually easy.

win's a win....I'll take it. Big East wins usually don't come easy. I think there is a five or six way tie now for second place lol

Let's keep this rolling. Go Cats!!!!

I am so sick of jackasses coming in here and shooting like Jordan.

Billy, it never fails. I love the stat that BE opponents are shooting nearly 40% from 3 at 5/3, but only 20% against us at home. Rutgers 1st half shot selection made grade school H-O-R-S-E look like fundamental basketball, yet they couldn't miss. The way opposing teams continue to rain from the outside we should start getting half credit for a road victory at home.

The effort of JJ and Mbodj won the game... 17 points, 8-15 FG, 12 rebounds (8 offensive), and 8 blocks. Great hustle!

Stating the obvious, but still well said.

It's time we all accept that this is who we are. Nothing will come easy. Nothing will look pretty. And nearly every game could go either way. Let's just hope our opponent isn't hot for 40 minutes. Rutgers finally cooled off in the second half. Notre Dame was like 9-14 on 3's against us and we only lost by 6.

I think if these guys loosened up a bit on offense, the shot might start falling. It seems to be a bit in their head and is affecting them mentally.

I thought the low post played possibly their best game all season, if not atleast in awhile.

Cash has got to stop with the stupid fouls. It was almost like he didn't want to be in the game.

I wish Rubles could actually make shots, because he's the best passer on the team and makes things happen. He's a liability in other ways though.

I know Parker contributes in other ways, but if I'm Mick, I'd consider more rotations at his spot to get more offense. Parker seems more tentative on offense than ever to me. And I like him alot. But he hasn't been doing much lately.

Agree on your points....

I still think for us to make a deep run (elite 8 and beyond) in the ncaa either Parker is gonna have to catch fire or a guy like Titus is going to have to start making shots. Problem is the probability of either happening (esp Titus) is not high....but could happen none the less.

Yeah, I brought up Parker in my last comment. I'm a big fan of Jaquon's. But I feel like he's starting to disappear offensively wayyyy too much. He would be my guy I'd consider rotating some of the new guys in for more. Jaquon tends to only either shoot 3's or try and play with the trees inside. It's great that he rebounds, but surely he could penetrate more and shoot from 5 to 10 feet instead of 2' from the bucket where he'll get blocked. Defense is the main problem because Parker plays it better than the younger guys. If Thomas would play better D, I could see him getting more minutes. Or the occasional Rubles in for Parker if Rubles would stop shooting 3's.

1. Cash needs to avoid foul trouble.
2. Need a third option to add to the scoring load.
3. Maintain the solid D.
4. Keep improving Mbodj, JJ, and Gaines offensively. We need them.

Seems like Sanders must be a defensive liability. He can't stay in the game for some reason.

Rutgers is a decent team, but this is the kind of game you have to win to stay off the bubble.

Ditto for Seton Hall.

A key to our run in the BET and the NCAA's was Parker's play. I agree we need him to step up. Titus needs to start taking the ball to the hole more often. He is very capable. This will help us open up a lot of other things

Agree, beginning with Chatter/#1/Clifton. If Rubles and Parker can both improve on their shooting (especially Parker from the stripe 04-jawdrop ) that will give us a huge boost. Cash not completely back yet, but here's hoping he will be by crunch time.

I liked the high post game. Need to see more of that. Guys like Rubles, JJ, and even Cheikh, are capable of operating in that area. It directly led to Cash's clutch 3-ball.

I was encouraged by Guyn filling in, with the exception of that stupid no-look pass into the low post (double-covered even). He otherwise made a lot of key plays.

I agree you for sure have to win these types of games at home. But I don't think Rutgers is a decent team. They are poor and they were hapless in the second half. Some ridiculously bad turnovers. It is just that we are challenged offensively and when you have these scoring lulls like we do, as others have pointed out, anyone can hang with you.

The way they play, Rutgers will trip up a couple teams they probably shouldn't. Their coach is a lunatic and it shows in how they play d.

Was i seeing things or on one the Rutgers inbound plays did the Rutgers players heave it into the backboard or was it deflected? I couldnt tell since the picture quality was bad on FSO.

It is perfectly legal to heave it into the backcourt. You just start the clock and the 10 second count again.

Those at the game obviously wouldn't know this, but on the FSO telecast, they put Rice in a split screen showing his antics. Kind of reminiscent of the way TV used to deal with Huggs.

Trust me it was obvious to every person in that arena that he is out of his mind.
