Im losing more and more faith in our coach with every game.
We are going to lose to Tulane if he doesnt get his head out of his but.
I wanted to believe in him but this crap is insane, he needs to go.
Tulane scored about 8 unanswered points while I was posting this.
He couldn't keep Shaq in to get 3 fouls and Black was being disciplined. YOU need to go.

Everybody is a comedian, until we run up against another St Louis in the first round of the tourney and come home early.
Or we lay an egg like this against So Miss in the conference tourney and dont even make the NCAA.
hey you're exactly right
it's pastner's fault that our guys aren't getting in position, getting boxed out, and getting out-hustled.
seriously dude?
That's plain dumb.

We escaped with a win at home against a team that is under .500 in conference play.

Honestly, the mods need to go ahead and ban some more of these miserables. If this team is so pathetic, then these miserables need to go find another team to support.
There are at least two posters in this thread that I would ban if I were a mod. There is no need in burdening the rest of us with their drivel.

We beat a team (Tulane), who beat Alabama on the road. The same Alabama team just beat Kentucky. Tulane has some very good players. our coach finds ways to win!

whose.
questions containing grammar violations require no response from me.
But I like you, so here goes: It is a player's responsibility to box out opposing players. The coach can not do that for them.
Would you like pastner on the court boxing out so that shaq (6-9) can get a rebound over the opposing point guard? If so you should note that this is not allowed.

RE: Howmany offensive boards do we have to give up...
I was at the game last night and after DJ fouled on the 3 for the 4 point play late in the game, some fat guy stood up and yelled something like "Come on Pastner! Was that the best play you could come up with!" He threw his ticket in the air and sat down disgusted.
With that attitude, I'm sure that guy is a poster here.
Yes, idiot! Coach Pastner told DJ to go and foul him in the act of shooting a 3. I'm sure it went down, just like Josh drew it up. I wonder what flash card he used for that Defense?
Mostly the guy was mocked by those sitting around us, but the ignorance of some in the "fan base" still amazes me.
I guess I'm an optimist, but I think we win a tourney game this year, infact I think you could say we are a shoe in!

(01-22-2013 10:00 PM)idroot4russia Wrote: If Tarik and Shaq are both out you at least need to have Adonis in the game. At the time I started the thread we probably only had one guy on the floor that weighs more than 200 pounds, we had no chance at keeping them off the offensive glass.
Guys that weigh over 200 lbs:
Adonis 1 rebound in 15 minutes
Shaq 3 rebounds in 18 minutes
Black 3 rebounds in 16 minutes
Crawford 3 rebounds in 28 minutes
Hall 0 rebounds in 5 minutes
Total - 10 rebounds in 82 minutes
Guys under 200 lbs:
DJ - 10 rebounds in 36 minutes
Geron - 4 rebounds in 37 minutes
Total - 14 rebounds in 72 minutes
So one guy under 200 lbs. had as many rebounds as 5 big guys over 200 lbs. in less than half the minutes.
That being said I do think we are a better rebounding team with Tarik on the floor despite the fact that he doesn't get that many rebounds himself. He helps clear the area out for other guys.

RE: Howmany offensive boards do we have to give up...
In response to the thread title, I'd say just one. This board seems to be offensive enough for some. Tulane was shooting around 63% lights out. To me, the adrenaline rush and turn around that set our jaws was when J.J. stole the ball and led the way on a 6 point comeback right before the first half ended. And when Tarik came in, the crowd intensity level picked up noticeably. Regardless of the negative spin, it WAS a good W for us in may ways.

Its not getting much mention, but that's the best Tulane team I've seen in many years.
Not that they are an NCAA team (because I don't see it) but they are way better than they have been the last sevral years.
Tough team that can rebound and has a great player in the post. I expect them to finish in the top 5 of the conference. Even though they are 1-3 currently.

Not having any depth is going to kill them. They do get to play Rice twice though.
