Coach Hawk...
It was great talking with Hawk tonight in GR. This guy has a grasp of this program that many of us will NEVER understand. Most of us aren't coaches, and id bet NONE of us are coaches at this level. Id also bet NONE of us truly knows what goes on behind those doors at UA after practices or after games...

We all can agree that Hawk is a great conversationalist, and person. He's also great with the student athletes in this program. However, I think many of us forget that there is much more to this game than winning. He answered the tough questions, and he never once backed off on his commitment to his game time decisions over the last few games...

Did we all forget that many of us here didn't think this team was going to even compete in the top level of the MAC this year? Extremely young team, and they are playing pretty well... I just hope we can get some wins going forward... and start to shoot a little better.

RE: Coach Hawk...
Thanks for sharing but I don't care. Like I've said before he is a great guy, sure. He has terrible game management, terrible with set plays out of time outs, terrible with substitutions, terrible with halftime adjustments. WMU needs to go in another direction. The program is stale.

Yay! Four 20 win seasons in his 9 years at WMU! 6 Total 20 won seasons in his 18 year head coaching career!

Hawk could sell a Frigidare to an Eskimo, that's why he's a good recruiter. With Hawk you have to pay attention to what he does, not what he says.

Gosh, you guys are so negative. I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt and see how this class plays out, we owe him that much......(cough, cough).

This board is going to explode if he wins 18+ games this year, maybe 20 or so next year...and gets an extension.

No it's not, people were happy when he won with the team that he inherited. We didn't even complain too much about the Roadhouse stuff.

I don't see why everyone thinks people will be mad if WMU wins.

We're all WMU fans here.

Unless he makes it to the NCAA Tourny, an extension is uncalled for.

I want to return to the NCAA tournament as well. Huge priority.

However, if the guy wins 18+ game in each of the next 3 seasons, goes to 2-3 postseason tournaments (even if they are garbage), and has a decent showing in Clevelend....what do you think they are going to do?

If he pulls off an upset this season or next and makes it to the NCAA, give him an extension. If he doesn't, they need to wait to evaluate the program until March of 2015.

Going to have to make a decision by 2014 to save recruits.

He's in year two of a 5 year contract. Same situation with Cubit. March 2015 represents 1 year left.

If they gave him an extension before that, it would have to be because of multiple 20+ win seasons and really really good showing in Cleveland and/or the postseason. Sign me up for them winning.
