RE: Tigers nearing RPI top 50; C-USA scores from first full night of league play
Tigers are up to #56 in the RPI after the win over ECU at FedExForum.

UTEP zoomed from #80 to #55 in the RPI after winning @ Tulane. The Miners currently have a RPI SOS of #5.

Southern Miss actually fell from the mid-50s to #66 after winning @ Rice.

All other C-USA teams are currently outside the RPI top 100. Half the league is #150 or worse.

Current Conference USA RPI's
UTEP (7-6, 1-0): #55 (SOS: #5)
Memphis (11-3, 1-0): #56 (SOS: #76)
Southern Miss (10-4, 1-0): #66 (SOS: #205)
Tulsa (8-7, 1-1): #117 (SOS: #134)
UCF (10-4, 1-0): #125 (SOS: #179)
UAB (7-8, 0-1): #141 (SOS: #93)
Tulane (11-4, 0-1): #161 (SOS: #318)
East Carolina (5-5, 0-1): #173 (SOS: #169)
SMU (9-7, 0-2): #185 (SOS: #261)
Houston (11-2, 1-0): #197 (SOS: #347)
Marshall (7-8, 1-0): #253 (SOS: #241)
Rice (2-10, 0-1): #331 (SOS: #231)

UAB shot 26% but was still in the game up until the end. Up until tonight, UAB had hit a three pointer in 586 games, dating back to 1996. Tonight they went 0-23 from three. I guess they were saving them up for Saturday night.

Hard to win when you go 0-23 from downtown. Wow.

It was an ugly game. UCF looked like crap too. They had 20 something turnovers

We've been the cure for what ails 3 point shooters lately. Opponents shooting 36% for the season against the Tigers.

Yeah, perimeter defense for the Tigers is definitely not the best. Along with a few other things.

I remember a game against Memphis where Robert Vaden went 0-23 all by himself.

Antonio Anderson would do that to you.

"Southern Miss actually fell from the mid-50s to #66 after winning @ Rice."

That means our RPI will also take a big dip next Wednesday after we play at Rice. Doesn't seem possible.

Marshall (7-8, 1-0): #253 (SOS: #241)
Rice (2-10, 0-1): #331 (SOS: #231)

Incredible Houston is 11-2 and has a RPI of 197. Was their whole schedule games against Houston Baptist?

Of course, some will see that 11-2 record as justification for Houston to be a 4 seed in the NCAA.

According to the RPI, Houston's non-conference strength of schedule is dead last. They did this last year and had a pretty record going into conference play and then tanked badly. I would expect the same result.
