RE: UAB BB game?
I intend to buy tickets this morning and I noticed that the Memphis game commands a $7 premium compared to all other games and general admission is not allowed. It is yet another reminder that we are the Super Bowl for all conference foes and makes our conference record even more remarkable.

Sections 221 and 222, according to UAB ticket office, are sold out. I got seats in Sec 223.

RE: Anyone going to the bb game at UAB?
We couldn't get a room at the Hampton Inn/Mountain Brook, so we're a little further down the road (280) at the Hampton Inn/Colonnade. Can't wait to see as many people as possible. We'll be in section 116 -- stop by and say hi!

Go Tigers!

They are more expensive, in part, because of demand. However, they are also more expensive because a portion of ticket proceeds go to cancer research. That is yet another reason I'd like to see the series continue, though I understand Memphis doesn't want to continue it. I suspect that UAB will continue the Gene Bartow Classic with proceeds to benefit cancer research whether Memphis is the other participant or not.

Quote: UAB Athletics will donate $2 for every ticket sold (excluding season tickets) to the Coach Gene Bartow Fund for Cancer Research, which was established in December 2009. Tickets for the game are $27 for lower-level reserved seats and $22 for upper-level reserved seats. Tickets can be purchased online at UABSports.com or by calling 205-975-UAB1 (8221).

I will gladly pay the extra $2 per ticket.

I hope the Memphis/UAB series continues to honor the man vital to both programs and to contribute to a good cause.

Didn't Memphis do the same thing for the Ole Miss football game? Is it because they are your Super Bowl, or just a chance to stick it to the visiting fans?

It is more of the latter because we need the money.

You want to stay away from North and West Birmingham including Ensley, Fairfield, Midfield, Bessemer, Fultondale, Woodlawn, and East Lake.

Look to stay at places in Southside around UAB, Mountain Brook, Vestavia Hills, Cahaba Heights, or anything down 280.

The Hampton Inn Birmingham/Mountain Brook would be the place that I would stay if I were coming to Birmingham. I'd go to Over Easy down the street for breakfast on Sunday morning and then head out after that. That's the best breakfast in town and you will not be let down. I put my personal neillis guarantee on that.

Also, I had a blast that game too, Tanya.

Neillis isn't the only one who likes Over Easy so plan on a bit of a wait. it's worth it though.

Good point. I should've remembered to mention that.

Also, does anyone want to get together before the game Saturday night? Does anyone have any preferences? I know that Tanyaskees wants to do something, but I don't really know what people like.

Some people like to meet up at Jim N Nicks I think. That's a respectable barbecue place if anyone is interested.

That's Cahaba Heights...depending on when you get in, you should check out Edgar's Bakery. They have the best strawberry cake that I have ever had.

We would love to get together before the game. We'll have two 12-year-old girls with us. Is Jim N Nicks a good place for children, too?

Yea. It's just a barbecue place, nothing too seedy.

Janice, are you going? I changed our hotel to Marriott downtown. Much closer to the arena, walking distance from what I understand.

Wish I was. I was in the top row of section 221 2 years ago when we won in overtime. Last year's game was too close to New Years for me to get away. Planned to go this year but unfortunately it fell through.
