I ALWAYS CHECK FOR BEDBUGS.
Got them once in the state of Louisiana.

I checked after that every time.

YIKES!

Never book a hotel without checking.

Yep, one experience with hotel bedbugs & you check from then on. And it's not always the cheap hotels, just check the registry....

RE: UAB BB game?
As an FYI, The UAB game takes place on 1/12/13 (a Saturday) at 7:30 pm. Every game (unless the Tigers play near Nashville) is a road trip for me, but I hope to attend the UAB game. It has always been fun in the past. It would be cool to see a sea of blue in Bartow.

I hope we continue the series with UAB. We can make the annual event a cancer fund raiser and do good while generating favorable publicity.

Anyone going to the bb game at UAB?
We're (husband, daughter, and me) driving down to Birmingham for the bb game against UAB on January 12th, and we were wondering who else plans to go? We'd love to meet as many posters as we can. This is our daughter's birthday present, too, and it would be great for her to meet other Tiger fans. We don't run into that many in Chattanooga.

Hope to see you there!

Brooks usually puts something together. I am sure something will come up as the date gets closer. I gotta get my tickets still!

That's great! We'll be in section 116 -- I'll be the loud Tiger fan in the wheelchair. Stop & say hi!

Anyone have any recommendations on hotels in the Birmingham area? Something affordable & wheelchair accessible? Which areas should we avoid?

We'll be there in section 207. Looking forward to it. Last time I went a few years ego, we were first row behind their student section...had a blast. Oh and Roller Chick, my BF is from Chatt...been here about 6 years. New Tigers Fan. We need to meet up.

You want to stay away from North and West Birmingham including Ensley, Fairfield, Midfield, Bessemer, Fultondale, Woodlawn, and East Lake.

Look to stay at places in Southside around UAB, Mountain Brook, Vestavia Hills, Cahaba Heights, or anything down 280.

The Hampton Inn Birmingham/Mountain Brook would be the place that I would stay if I were coming to Birmingham. I'd go to Over Easy down the street for breakfast on Sunday morning and then head out after that. That's the best breakfast in town and you will not be let down. I put my personal neillis guarantee on that.

Also, I had a blast that game too, Tanya.

Cool. Let me know if a group gets together to eat beforehand. The SO and I live pretty close to the area, now.

I am going to have to check it out. Not having to look for a parking spot may be worth it. How far of a walk? And I assume it's safe since you walked with your child?

Yes, he was four at the time, now he is five, yes it was a safe walk, and if are drinking its gets better, I will say about less than 1/2 mile. I have a bad hip and made it with no problem.
