I'll go with...Joe Jackson, only 10 team turnovers and 56% shooting.

Those 2 crazy 3's made by Geron made Josh a good coach again.

They couldn't guard Joe, he got into the lane and kicked out to guys for threes. A lot of it is the way shoot 3s. Seems like we make more when the pass comes from the interior.

56% from 2, 63% from three. Only 10 turns. EVERY player with the exception of Adonis (7-16) shot at least 50% from the field.

Negative: (like Louisville) Memphis gave up 52 points in the 2nd half to UTk. Bad to a team than can barely average that an entire game. Either mental lapse or fatigue. Same issue with UoL--59 points given up in the 2nd half.

If this team could ever put together 30 minutes of complete basketball...wow.

RE: Ok, so why did the Tigers win?
Main reason is UT is just not a very good team
2 as a team we shot well, and in particular the first half shot selection was great
3 Defense in the first half was enough to get us a win, 2nd half not so much but again go back to point one
4 Geron J's threes were very big

RE: Ok, so why did the Tigers win?
Two words: offensive efficiency. Memphis' ball movement and general motion on offense were really impressive. Very unselfish. The guards did a great job of knowing when to push and when to reset. Even the shots they missed, for the most part, were decent shots. Adonis and Joe each had a few shots go in and out.

As for the 2nd half slide. Some of it was just UT finding gaps in our zone, which we had to play with Black out and Shaq in foul trouble. Some of it, honestly, was Crawford getting beat off the dribble or not getting back (he has a few unfortunate tendencies in that regard).

Those are the things I noticed, anyway.

RE: Ok, so why did the Tigers win?
MEMPHIS jumped out to a huge lead (21 points in early 2nd half) and quieted the crowd for the most part. That helps in a road game. Jackson had a monster game. MEMPHIS didn't let some of the really poor calls and non-calls upset them. They held on for the win even after UT connected on some longe range bombs to cut it to 2 points.

10-3; move on to the conference opener against ECU on WEdnesday.

Would have been a pure blowout had utk not made a bunch of long, real long, often contested threes themselves.

One of Johnson's was wild, the other in rhythm. 3-4 of utk's were wild. They went in...they got closer, and still lost.

Missed dunk did not help them but our kids missed several layups during their 3 point aided comeback.

Right. Because this group of juniors and seniors would have totally collapsed if there were 5 extra minutes and lost by 20.
