New resaurant called Boneheads
There is a fantastic fairly new restaurant called Boneheads at 555 Perkins Ext. between Poplar and Southern. Basically a fish place but they do have chicken on the menu. Been open 12 months. It is very reasonable priced and the food and service is great. You order at the counter and they bring it to you. The parking spaces in the parking lot say "Reserved for a Bonehead." I am especially happy since it is just minutes away from home. My wife does not like fish that much and she loves the place. Here is a link to a review. http://www.memphismagazine.com/Blogs/Mem...t-Memphis/ Bon appetit

very nice place. been there a little while now. It's a chain similar to the local-based Humdingers, and is slightly better as well (plus a few more options than Humdingers). We go every time we have something going on in that area.

I think the humdinger a people were initially planning on opening a boneheads but couldn't for some reason. So they took the premise and opened humdingers. Could be wrong though.

yeah they have been. Not sure if it's location or what. They've been sending out surveys asking people what they like and what would bring them around more. Every time we go there is maybe only 2-3 tables being used and we always walk straight to the counter to order. It's never been busy when we're there.

I think it's the menu and the location. But I hope it survives.

I like that the menu changes from day to day but always has some staples like Shepard's Pie and Irish Breakfast.

It may be the menu somewhat. Memphis is just not a 'fancy fish' market, especially inside the loop. The location is fine, about as high traffic as there is. I was skeptical about a new BBQ restaurant, how many BBQ places do we need?, that opened a couple of months ago next door to Bonefish in the old Johnny Rockets/CK's location. Lot's of money was spent on renovation and painting. While I haven't been there yet, I'm glad to see that business appears very, very good. One and Only I believe it's called. Tiger sponsor also. I know we all have our favorite 'Q' spots but we need to give this guy a chance. Hopefully, he'll have a alcohol license because you just can't have good bbq without an ice cold Bud.

That post was in reference to the Brass Door.

But One and Only has had a location in Germantown for a few years now that has done pretty well so it's fairly established.

The location was rough when it opened because the street was blocked for a while, if memory serves me. The parking can be hard. And some of the Irish food, while wonderfully authentic, may not appeal to the average Memphian. I need to go again, though, and check out the menu.
I think inside the loop is a very good area for "fancy fish", thinking about Tsunami, Blue Fin, Bleu, Rizzo's, Itta Bena, and many more.
