RE: Louisiana-Lafayette Perception(s)
There are plenty of schools that have never played football before or FCS schools to choose from. Why would CUSA want to add ULL?

I think the image of Lafayette has improved dramatically since the arrival of Mark Hudspeth. Many people want to see what happens to the program once Hudspeth has moved along. Does it remain at the level that Hudspeth has brought the program or does it return to the Lafayette of old?

Just what is the perception of UL in CUSA? Obviously, the rank and file UL fan would love membership in CUSA, but there is a certain amount of frustration in the whole conference realignment thing and how UL fits in.

Would we be a decent addition?

I think everyone would be glad for UL to rejoin cusa but they just hooked up with the ACC and doubt they would be intersted.

I'm concerned that if ULaLa can't even get their state let them be called University of Louisiana, that they'll never get the other support they will need to compete at a high level

I can't believe I enjoyed a EE post. I would be OK with ULL but this calling themselves Louisiana or UL bull 01-rivals has got to stop.

Now with regard to my question, I'm guessing you are cool with our inclusion in CUSA?

Um, you do know this is a message board right? and that we have no power to do anything about your school getting into Conf-USA. This whole thread has been like: Hey, does Harry like Sally, yes I think Harry likes Sally very much. crickets etc, etc

That's why I came to a CUSA board and left a message asking people what their perception of ULL was.

And Eastern Carolina really doesn't have a say in anything CUSA, do they?

Other than, "Ow, my tushy hurts from that spanking ULL gave me last week."

Funny stuff. Love it.

And to the ECU guy, yeah this is a message board and fans talk back and forth about a lot of things that those same fans have no power over. You're brilliant!

"My tushy hurts" Yikes you can do better than that! This is a message board relax just having some fun. In all honesty, I do not think that LA Tech would want anyone else from your state in Conf USA. Also, it looks like Conf USA has been searching for teams with markets. Does ULL have a tv market. Finally, does your school have a chance to keep winning after your coach leaves?

The combined statistical area per the 2010 US census has 560,000 people within 30 miles of Lafayette and over 800,000 within 50 miles of Lafayette (considered Acadiana) and doesn't include Lake Charles or Baton Rouge, although we have TV stations in those markets. Lafayette is considered the capital of Acadiana or French Louisiana.

This is a larger tv market than other CUSA teams like USM, LA Tech, Marshall, & ECU. So, yeah, Louisiana has a nice tv market. Louisiana will continue to prosper in football, even if we lose our coach. We are loaded for next year and after two 9 win seasons in a row and 2 bowl game wins in a row with wins over San Diego State and ECU while setting then breaking attendance records, we expect minimally a 10 win season. Our coach will be around next year. If we lose him then, it is likely our OC would take over. On top of that, we are set to unveil shortly a Master Plan for athletics that will include increasing our stadium capacity to over 50,000. Football success is not only here to stay, but is now being built to continue to grow and prosper.

I have always had a positive opinion of ULaLa. Much better football program than Tulane. Almost the equal of La Tech. Terry Bradshaw trumps Brian Mitchell.

Ahh yes but does he trump Jake Delhomme?? 03-no03-lmfao

Charles Tillman is a Ragin' Cajun, and he is a stud for the Bears. I believe he's starting again in the ProBowl this year.

Tech has three NFL Hall of Famers (Terry Bradshaw, Fred Dean, and Willie Roaf). I don't think you wanna get into that discussion.

Yea but but, we have Brandon Stokeley, and he's future Hall of Famer Peyton Manning's lifelong favorite WR. 04-cheers

No I don't want to get into a pissing match about NFL players alma maters... kudos to you on the 3 HOF guys. Neat.

Arkansas State.

We've won the last two SBC Championships under two different coaches. We bring a new state into the mix and are only one of two FBS programs in that state...so none of that constant "that's not your name drama" and constant in-state bickering at the annual meetings.

We are located in a convenient midpoint as a bridge between east and west and we fill in a hole in the conference map that will make it look better.

We also have a cool mascot and a successful modern rebranding.

Also we usually don't start new pimp our school threads and if we do decide to pimp will usually do it sparingly on another school's pimp thread.

We are also humble and don't pop our gum.

Actually, I almost asked what the perception was of ULL AND ASU.

I think rank-and-file ULL fans would prefer seeing the both of us move along together. I think there's much love toward ASU from us.

I'd rather have had ULL/ASU or MTSU/WKU than the F_U twins, from the looks of it we'll be playing with all six soon enough.

We like you too. Hoping we get to stay together.
