If we lose Uh and SMU!
If we lose Houston, SMU to the MWC along with Boise then its game over....Hope Aresco can pull some magic out.....At this point we need to get a deal going to get us stable.....If BYU and BOise band together, they might get SMU and Houston, and SDSU and maybe Navy....We shall see, But the Silence from Aresco is not looking good at all....The more Silence the more the end in sight is looking....The World Is OUrs Memphis....

When Aresco took Tulane then added ECU he killed the conference of any chance at a big payout. The best thing for him to do is back off of the divisional alignment and go with a 8-10 team alignment and call that the new league. besides, the league will be watered down once UConn and Cincy leave. And that could happen any time now. All the ACC has to do is say "come on in".

Who? Boise? SDSU? Navy? UConn? Cincy? UH? SMU? Memphis, and where are we going? Aresco? Maybe to his new gig at ESPN?

Not sure the ACC is willing to play the role of "desperate conference" yet. Nothing desperate about UConn or Cincy as ACC schools, just that I think that adding them without another ACC school leaving indicates that they perceive themselves as fresh meat for other conferences. A little too proactive imho.

RE: If we lose Uh and SMU!
I guess my glass is half full. We won't be in worse shape than we are now. Most likely better.

Maybe and East-West conference. Probably not, but Memphis, UCONN, Cinci, and Temple make a good base for a basketball conference. If the ACC takes UConn and Cinci, that changes things, but all you can do is make the best out of the situation. There is a possibility of joining a better basketball conference (Catholic 7?) and separating football.

Just look where we are now. A terrible football conference and an even worse basketball conference. As we all know, our conference schedule is a complete joke. It just can't get much worse. I'd suggest kicking back, having a nice strong drink, and enjoy the holidays. No need to get worked up about all of this... It might even work out OK...

Merry Christmas all

The Big East needs to continue to shoot for the large markets. That's why Tulane came in to replace Rutgers or whoever. New Orleans is a major city and a great ally to have has a conference member.

If the league shifts more westward in profile, so be it. Great locales, great climates and great cities.

The conference was watered down the day it lost it's AQ status. This past year it has been in the adding any warm body they can find mode. Remember that Tulane has a far richer all sports pedigree than Marquette. A former SEC team who has had an undefeated football season in the BCS era.

Only problem is that while they are going after major markets, the schools are step children in their own home town. Houston and SMU play second fiddle to Texas in their home towns. Tulane plays second fiddle to LSU in their home town and the Tigers to UT, OM and other SEC schools here. They are adding major football markets but not the major football name in these markets.

Correction please. Humble detective says we will be in far worst situation. Our access to the new playoffs will be exactly the same as we now have in CUSA. The new TV contract will not be anywhere near what they are getting now and may not be much more than the CUSA and MWC deals. BUT we will be facing a much larger operational liability with the non revenue sports.

Nothing you can do about that, but you can get better advertising dollars in New Orleans, Dallas and Houston than you can in Hattiesburg, Birmingham or Huntington. Not to mention the potential recruits you can reach. So much talent in those areas that the Big XII and SEC can't get them all.
