I guess you are calling him a cornball brother, Token, or something else?

No. Not yet. Right now, I'm just seeing where you all stand on Affirmative Action.

WTF are you talking about, you sound like you really have a problem with a black man being conservative. It really gets your goat doesn't it?

Black man, conservative, I have no problem with that. I loved Herman Cain and who could forget Allen West? I'm just trying to get your opinions on Affirmative Action. Do you think that Scott was the most qualified person for this position? Should he have taken it away from someone more deserving? Discuss.

Sounds like you're assuming he's not qualified because he's black so this must be a case of affirmative action. Nothing else in your post says anything differently. What's that definition of racism again? Ah yes, the belief that one race is inferior to another.

Wear that shoe, Firm.

Coming from an Obama voter? Hysterical.

Scott served 13 years on the Charleston City Council. He served in the SC State House, the US Congress and now the US Senate. He is more than qualified to assume the role of US Senator. He also has worked in the private sector and small business.

Now granted he was never a community organizer, the job that truly prepares you for a job at the national level. But not everyone can be so lucky.

The disdain leftists have for conservative minorities is appalling

Ahh keep avoiding the "most qualified" part of my question. Just about everyone on this board is qualified to a be US Senator. I'll ask again, was he the most qualified person for the job? Isn't this what most affirmative-action cases are about? Discuss.

Well. Seeing as we don't know who else was considered it's a tough question. Why don't you throw out some names of you feel was more qualified and we'll discuss. Clearly you've given it a wealth of thought.

And, most affirmative action cases are not about who's the most qualified. The problem with affirmative action is that qualified people are passed over many times for unqualfied minority applicants. That's clearly not the case with Tim Scott.

Nice right-wing talking point. Too bad it has no basis is reality.

Direct your attention to the "Math is Raciss" thread and I remember a story about black firemen getting promoted, despite their job performance and test scores, over white colleagues because of their skin color.

It's so cute when you accuse others of using talking points. It's only slightly less hilarious than when RedwingRobert does it.

It does have a basis in reality. See the multitude of cases that have been won over reverse discrimination.

When a Lib criticizes a Republican African-American as "Black in color only" I still can't understand what they mean.

There must be Liberal Code Words.

Those cases deal with the more qualified person getting the short end of the stick not an unqualified person getting a position over a qualified person.

I thought you of all people would get who the more qualified person was that got passed over for that Senate seat. I'll give you a clue. He also likes to call people liars. :-)

Well, he's been in congress longer, has military experience, business experience, and better academic résumé.

You should probably do some research regarding affirmative action. That's not how it works.

That is probably a contributing factor. However, Scott won his House seat by defeating Strom Thurmond's son in a primary. So he has some ability. It's just that he isn't as libertarian as I'd like.

I just have to laugh at Democrats who push for affirmative actions speculating that a GOP decision is "about race"....

Anyone who can take down a Thurmond in SC is a formidable politician, he may not be perfect but if he has a spine he will be a net + in the caucus.

If length of time were important you would never have voted for Obama. If military experience were important you never would have voted fit Obama. If business experience were important you never would have voted for Obama.

You are a supporter of the most unqualified, least accomplished man to ever sit in the Oval Office so clearly you don't even buy the argument you're making. As a result it's difficult for anyone else to.

Based on the right wing theory, he will get 99% of the black vote in the 2014 election.

In that same primary, Scott also defeated the son of former SC Gov Carroll Campbell (RIP), a very popular figure among SC Republicans, and actually among most people of that state, regardless of party.

Scott is well-positioned to win the same kind of respect and popularity from the people of South Carolina. Being denounced by Democrat-liberals will only serve to help him get further along on that path.

This is rich coming from an idiot that voted for THE least qualified man to ever hold the office of President. He was the least qualified in the DNC primary.

I see what you just did. In politics, they call it a pivot. Turn the conversation from Tim Scott to Obama being unqualified. Last time that I checked Obama was over 35, not impeached by the senate nor led a rebellion against the US, has lived in the US for 14 years and is a natural-born citizen.......wait.03-idea LOL.
