....PLEASE NO!

It would be a great loss if our moment in the national spotlight we put these throwbacks on.

Most people will be asking why it looks like a Nazi flag and others wouldn't recognize us the next time that we played on TV.

We have spent a ton on branding our image as NIU the past 12 years.

Don't worry, the powers that be at NIU won't allow a helmet that doesn't have the Huskie logo on it. It's part of the Huskie "brand."

I do like the throwback helmets, but we won't see them at the Orange Bowl, if ever.

We are NIU. Don't tinker with that. Our fans will undoubtedly start an "N-I-U" chant or two or three during the game. Not "N-I".

I actually like that old logo but I think it would be a step backward. Go NIU!!!

This is somewhat OT, but is it:

1. Another HUSKIE first down

Or

2. Another HUSKIES first down?

My wife and I like HUSKIE but noticed that the PA announcer uses Huskies.

The PA announcer changed this year to HUSKIES, after saying HUSKIE for several years. No idea why.

I like HUSKIE better too, but what he really needs to do is make the call earlier. He often makes the call way too late, almost up to the time the ball is being snapped for the next play.

We need to figure out a coordinated way to do this at the OB. At the MACC, it was done in pockets of fans, sort of like the wave....

No need to change...you spent all this time and money marketing the brand ...you do not want to waste that...

The unis are cool and so are the helmets

This much I know- any NIU uniform with an Orange Bowl patch is a great NIU uniform.

Keep uniforms the same.

If it coordinates with FSU, wear the black ones.

For anybody watching the Bulls game right now, Taj Gibson and Marquis Teague are wearing adidas' new blaze red basketball shoes. These are the color shoes and socks NIU should be wearing on New Years Day. Exactly what I'm looking for.

I was at the Convo today. The Athletic Dept. was shipping 10 of the standard white jerseys to Miami for display. There won't be any uniform changes for the Orange Bowl.

Listen for my son. He's become something of a folk hero on the first down calls at road games going back to 2009 at Purdue when he was 10.

Former NIU kicker John Ivanic insists that he won't respond to anyone else's call.

He'll be the loudest kid in Miami.

I've always said "Huskie First Down." However, now that you mention it, I remember the Northern Star style guide dictates that we are Huskies and unless referencing a sole player (Jordan Lynch is a Huskie), it is always to be Huskies.

Hence the team achieves the first down, and collectively they are Huskies.

RE: Orange Bowl Uniforms
Usually I am all for shaking up the uniform, but I think for the OB, we don't do anything, except a patch, maybe a metallic flecked helmet (I think we wore one for one of the SF games).

We are already considered amateurs by the national stage, the last thing we want is to show up looking like a bunch of squirrels and giving the media something else to chew on.

That said. IF we were to do something new (and we weren't giving a damn about branding), I'd say go all white. White jerseys, white pants, light grey numbers, white helmets and ghosted NIU logo.

We have those all the time now. They have red metallic flecks.

NO to the white pants! I HATED when the Bears did it and I have never liked it since! And yes I am using the word HATE about the color of some football pants. That is how strongly I feel about it...

The 2012 Huskies are undefeated wearing the white shirts, so why not wear the uniform that got them there?

Thank you. We wore all white with black helmets when Sadler was here. The LeShon Johnson highlights against Iowa were in all-whites.

They look like s#*t.

And I like all-whites normally, just not for an NIU uniform.
