RE: Stadium Question(Don't shoot me)
Not defending anyone but the thought is 20K looks better in a 25K seat stadium than 30K looks in a 70K seat stadium.

Perfect example is Troy. When they draw 11,000 for a game nothing is said even when it is on TV. We have been hammered for crowds in excess of 20K because it looks bad in that huge stadium.

Not advocating the Met but it was a fall back plan when the City was planning on demolishing LF. Now that they have given it a temporary reprieve we have some time to get our stadium built. How do I know it was going to be demolished before someone says something? Our company was tasked with the demolition plan. Now that is on hold.

You guys are comparing NFL facility needs to college needs. No comparison. NfL can afford it.

So what you are saying is that UAB cannot afford an on campus stadium?

I beg to differ

No. What he is saying is the NFL can pay cash money for basically anything they want. UAB cannot, and will not be able to do that at any point in time. Why do you keep arguing with people on this board about the OCS? Everybody here wants it and is aware of what the issues with it are.

First, I am not "arguing" with you, or anyone on this board.

Second, not everybody here wants it. Several posters have clearly agreed that UAB needs more wins and more fans to justify it.

Duh! Have a nice day.

RE: Stadium Question(Don't shoot me)
Everybody that is a UAB fan wants the damn stadium.

And the reason people keep talking about wins and fans is that is clearly what the BOT asked for before the stadium was presented again. You don't need to keep presenting the same information over and over to everybody on here. We get it.

If you've never been legitimately offended by anything, then it means that you are never offended with just cause. So you always get offended when you shouldn't. That sucks for you.

Making fun of BSC's facility just seemed out of place to me. I'm sorry. The enrollment is less than 2,000, but I wasn't talking about capacity. It's nice because of the playing surface and the locker rooms and training facilities.

Starting to come around to my way of thinking.

Nobody, including sports media in Alabama, cares about Troy.

UAB fans hammer themselves over attendance more than anybody else does.

It appears to be a conference wide thing. There is a thread in the C-USA forum every week where all the UAB, Tulane, and Rice haters go to play.

RE: Stadium Question(Don't shoot me)
Well only reason I brought it up is because you have different media folks comparing UAB to Troy. I have heard that UAB needs to be more like Troy because they draw more people and have big name teams coming into Troy when we know the truth. Had certain media members not made the comparisons over the last few years I would not have mentioned it. They may not care about Troy but some blindly compare us to them.

Maybe it has something to do with being brow beat about attendance? Maybe that is why UAB fans stress over it?

Or that attendance is the prevailing reason given for denying UAB a stadium.

RE: Stadium Question(Don't shoot me)
There is probably a tendency to put all nonBCS D1 state schools into the same category if they are not brand new like USA. If UAB was not hobbled by the UA System (aka BOT), it might grow like USF and UCF have done and might be with them today. There is no magic in being artificially confined to a small school status as this state seems to prefer.
