He said McGee got lucky that Tulane and ECU, who both beat UAB this year, are leaving CUSA and were replaced by MTSU and FAU who lost as many games as UAB. If only UAB could do something about powerhouses like Marshall and Rice, they could dominate this league! Raita was clearly jabbing UAB and he knew it. Obviously, his "facts" were wrong, but he didn't care. He could say all sorts of negatives about UAB and I would take it. But to make a joke of UAB with incorrect information is unprofessional and unacceptable.

Adding FAU isn't going to help UAB any.

I'm sure he came here right after he got off the air and saw that he got the desired effect. Way to go. Now someone will suggest we send him all types of hate mail, which further feeds his ego. He can probably use all that hate mail and get a raise.

MB, I know you don't live in the midst of Crimson country, but I'm sure you know that the Crimson drones walk around with all kinds of stupid ideas about UAB, many of which they learn from the media. If the media makes a joke out of UAB (often), then the drones get the message that UAB is a joke. Recruits in this area get that message also.

Obviously, winning will solve the problem, but people constantly taking cracks at UAB doesn't help us one bit.

Also, didn't we learn last year that the media (right or wrong) will gauge interest in a topic by the number of people who respond? The people at al.com told us that a way they gauge interest in a topic is the number of reponses to the articles. Therefore, they said no one cares about UAB since no one responds.

To all of you who say "just don't listen to them": I could do that, and then I would help prove to them that no one cares about UAB. Things will never get better unless we do things to show that UAB has a fan base.

If you don't like that, then I guess you don't have to read this thread.

There has been a big fall off in quality local sports media over the years.

Give me Ken Lass any day because he was fair & didn't try and do things to pump himself up.

If they are writing columns or doing tv spots just to see how people react to them, they are failures.

I care about UAB. It's local media I don't care about.

And Smaug, you are a true Blazer. The casual Blazer or the potential young Blazer can be turned off by a negative perception of UAB perpetuated by the media.

Had we made "UABsucks.com" it would have gotten 5x the hits BlazerTV has ever gotten because of threads like this and a fanbase that would (seemingly) much rather complain about media they don't have than pay attention to the media they do have.

why not express our displeasure of the local media to either coach or Mackin. Not displeasure in the program but displeasure in the poor media coverage, the demeaning comments that try to hold the program down when two coaches are being so positive for US. Like it or not the media needs UAB just as much as UAB needs them.

BTW, I like your site and your articles. I don't read it everyday, but I have read your stuff many times. Traditional media outlets have the advantage on you still, but the mold is breaking, so I hope BlazerTV continues to grow.

Go back and look at all the call-to-arms threads to go "blow up" an al.com piece because something negative was said about UAB or Alabama fans were talking trash. The UAB community, at least the BlazerTalk community, prides itself on feeding the trolls.
