I thought that was very cool. But it really hit home, when I saw the teams that UTEP was ranked ahead of (Notre Dame, Arizona, UCLA, and on, and on).
I hope we can keep up with.....Eh, Uh, Um, whomever is left in the conference.

It's surreal. Hope this class doesn't disappoint, because it could quickly turn UTEP into a consistently-ranked team. With all these signees, I just want to know who's leaving. As long as it isn't either of the Washburns or Tymond Howard. None of the other players on the team float my boat right now. We sorely need Isaac Hamilton. We not only need a scorer, but we need a guy that would be able to run our offense (point guard).

LOL. I meant it as there won't be anyone left, and UTEP will be standing alone.

During the Aggie game, Malcolm Moore introduced himself as a Junior on the video board. That goes with what I thought regarding him red shirting last year. The UTEP athletic site lists him as a senior on the roster page. If he is, in fact, a junior, that is one less scholarship to play with. Its going to get real interesting. Especially if Anthony January qualifies. Many are reporting he is already enrolled at UTEP.

I believe there are a couple of academic risks among the class, so I think first we need to see who actually makes it on campus, then determine who gets voted off the island.

We will take every bit of that too.
I'm glad they have this shiny ranking but prove it on the floor.

Scary thing is that the ranking doesn't include Anthony January, 4-star forward noon-qualifier from class of 2012 who is supposed to enroll for the spring semester.
That said, we knocked off Memphis at their place after top 5 recruiting classes there. Those stars only indicate potential, not necessarily future success.

This is a pretty good indication of how scary its going to be for Tulsa to play in conference this season. With a badly depleted bench and playing a lot of freshmen it going to be tough.

If we can get a real coach, we will be one hell of a conference addition to basketball...#29th in the nation...

If everybody qualifies, there will be 9 new players on next year's team, of which are Mackenzie Moore, Wilms, and January.
The Brothers Washburn, Howard and Bo would be retained.
That is what I ave heard now twice, from two separate people in the know.
Ragland, Cedric, etc, are playing for a schollie for next year, if one is available.

Doesn't Mackenzie Moore become eligible in late December? If so, I think we will use him this year.
It sucks for the few players that have to play for a spot, but I guess that means we can find a gem out of Ragland, Lang, Cooper, etc.

If I had to bet, more than one of the signees isn't going to end up a Miner. That is too many freshmen. We would end up in another Barbee situation.
Spight
Hunter
Hamilton
Flaggert
Josh Brown
Anthony January
Wilms

Well January and Hamilton are ex Dream Vision teammates, as well as Hunter and Wilms being high school teammates, so its appears that contributed to their decision to commit, along with UTEP being awesome. I really do not see any of them leaving so that leaves Spight, Flaggert, and Brown, which I see as an improvement over Cooper, Ragland, and Lang. I really like Lang , he is the kind of hard working player every team needs but he just might not have the offensive fire power to earn a role within next years team. College basketball is pure business and Floyd is approaching recruitment as any employer would, either perform or you will be replaced. That mentality seems harsh, but if we want to reach the next level it is something we must learn to accept. We still have to wait and see if all of these guys even qualify.

Don't know what to think of this season, the team did terrible in the Old Spice Classic Tournament. They barely beat NMSU. They still seem to be a learning team.
Next season though is THE season: a five star recruit, four star recruits, the Washburns, Twymond Howard plus the C-USA Tournament at home in El Paso equals the top class in the league and the favorites to win the league and the tournament.

Season is still young.
As to your second statement, a five star freshman can only do so much. I wouldn't put us as the #1 favorites to win just yet...gotta see who's coming back to compliment the freshmen
