RE: FAU to C-USA...
I'm excited about playing in FL every year now. Coker has strong roots there so maybe we open up a FL pipeline.

MTSU and FAU aren't bad additions at all. They allow us to keep a championship game and gives us breathing room if say UTEP/Tulsa bolt.

Originally I was not in favor of adding anyone but we all know this realignment train won't stop anytime soon. Better to add teams before you absolutely need them.

Schnellenberger is an old man who hates everything but Matlock. Ohh...it on now.

Poor Arky State. They tried so hard, and got so far. But in the end? It doesn't even matter.

I would split this way.

Miami-Dade FIU (Local TV stations, and Print)
West Palm Beach FAU (Local TV statinos and Print)

Broward is probably a 70/30 split in favor of FAU for print coverage. The Sun-Sentinel has a full time FAU beat writer.

CUSA will have ganed almost the entire S.Florida media market with this move.

This is one of the main pluses for FAU coming into the conference. The market is 50th or so and it is only them as a college in that market. This is separate from Miami/Dade. Here are a few others...

1. Rich area in Boca Raton Florida with a lot of room for growth
2. Fastest team to both get to a bowl game and win a bowl game upon entering FBS. They did it in their 3rd year.
3. There are some MAC schools that have 1 or 2 bowl wins in 80 years of football. FAU has 2 in 8 years of playing at the FBS level.
4. They have only had football period since 2001. Like I said they were FCS before 2005.
5. Rich recruiting area
6. 8-3 vs FIU all time. If they can be welcomed, I don't see why we wouldn't be.
7. Even in our horrible 1-11 year, we still beat UAB
8. Great facilities with plenty of room to expand them if needed down the line.
9. New medical program starting up and the school becoming more exclusive in academics. Not the greatest school there yet but we have some nice programs and are improving. Accounting has been strong and business school in pretty good for instance (I went there for business)
10. Very nice road trips and helps keep FIU off an island.

Look a lot of CUSA is going on potential. FIU, FAU, Old Dominion, Texas San Antonio, Charlotte etc go with that gameplan. I maintain that schools in rising population areas that haven't been around for a long time are better than adding schools in the North or Midwest that have played football for 80 years.

I am excited and hope this league doesn't lose both Southern Miss and Tulsa. We will see how it looks and I hope FAU can get back to 07/08 level and improve even further in the near future.

*8-2 all time vs. FIU. The amount of wins is always first, and one of their wins (the first on I think) was taken away.
FAU is growing just as fast as FIU is, but in it's own area and market... not in the shadow of UM as bad as FIU is.

This is the key line... Any future growth from here on out is markets and potential based. Until/unless USM, Marshall, Tulsa, UTEP are gone... we'll be the "old hands" of the conference that have set the bar of expectations for everyone else in the conference once all this shakes out.

I don't like the fact that we're not going to get the chance to compete with the "big names", but until some stuff changes, it is what it is, and I don't think there's much more that can be done about it.

I thought while eating that I transposed it. I know how wins and losses go in a record....

I still call it 8-3. FIU vacated one but they still won the game.

Some of those teams you mentioned have 5 and 7 bowl wins while competing in football since the 30's and 40's. FAU has 2 in 8 years at the FBS level. There is room for growth as I said.

Congrats Owls! Not sure if we will see an FAU vs UTEP conference game, but my guess is that we have a 50-50 chance of seeing one at this point. 04-cheers

Thank you. And looking forward to it!
I've always wanted to visit UTEP, so if I make the trip I now who to contact. FAU fans and students are as friendly as they come down here in our great state, so don't second guess visiting our gorgeous campus, stadium, and community!
04-cheers

I think CUSA may be going for two more.

Not sure we could convince anyone to join this heap of garbage at this point. Maybe New Mexico State and Idaho out of sheer necessity?

Have not even played a down in Conf usa and your beating it down big ego I guess. Your moving up and have no room to talk about how bad you think our conf is
