Kinda embarrassing if you ask me.

Excerpt:

Interest in this weekend's ACC Championship Game isn't exactly at an all-time high. Considering you can use a $5 bill to buy a ticket and still get $1 back in change, we're going to say Charlotte isn't abuzz about Florida State vs. Georgia Tech this week.

LOL...The ACC would have been better off this year playing in Jacksonville.

They should give them away with buckets of chicken. Or maybe have the city of Charlotte buy 10,000 and just give them away. 03-shhhh

You will find more people in a busy Taco Bell than GA Tech fans at this game.

They already do that for the bowl game in Charlotte. Used to get free tickets all the time before my mom retired.

Why would Jacket fans go, they know they are just going to get killed. Its alot to pay for gas and hotel stay even if you are only paying 3 bucks for tix to get sacrificed.

I think the ACC would be smart to go the route of the Pac-12. Play it at a college stadium, and take the team with the best record for the home field. I've never been a fan of neutral sites college football games.

The SEC is the only conference that can pull off a neutral site game.

The ACC didn't necessarily err in thinking it could do the same, but it's had the worst luck getting having localized teams make the game. Of the five Florida games (three in Jacksonville, two in Tampa), Florida State has only played once--the first CG in 2005. The worst attended game was Tampa's 2008 matchup with Boston College and Virginia Tech. This season's game is the third of four scheduled Charlotte games: No North Carolina team has appeared in the game to date.

Even with bigger SEC fanbases overall, don't underestimate the relatively cheap cost of getting to Atlanta from anywhere in [traditional] SEC country. You gotta figure a healthy amount of people at this year's game have mostly seen Alabama or Georgia play on TV, only ponying up because 1) the stakes involved and/or 2) its easier to make a weekend out of Atlanta than Tuscaloosa.

Put the ACC 'ship at Bobby Dodd Stadium semi-permanently for the same reasons, or play just it at a division winner.

RE: OT: ACC Champ Game tickets selling for less than a fast food burrito!
SEC Championship game will be sold out as usual but the ACC format should be changed. SEC fans are crazy enough to travel to Antarctica if one of their teams were playing. For the ACC they have had long trips down to FL or up to Charlotte for fanbases that have to turn around and buy tickets and travel to an expensive BCS Bowl. This match up is no different. You have a 6-6 GT that plays by default because of Miami self imposed sanctions. Their fanbase is not going to Charlotte to watch a curb stomping of their team when half of them are hoping the coach is fired. FSU fans will pass on this game and save their money for the Orange Bowl for a better match up. The end result is maybe 30k watching this game depending on how many locals decide to fork over $4 for a ticket
