Is the next to move BC?
Poster on the SU board (not an insider by any means) is claiming that BC is the next to jump ship to the BIG. It would certainly fit with them taking markets over on field success. Would also put pressure on ND.

Be still my heart!!
Let's see that's like trading BC and Maryland for Pitt and Syracuse.

BC to the Big Ten?

.....and nothing of value was lost.

Without a conference network, 15 years minimum away, the "Boston market" is more useful for chicken for the ACC, not TV sets.

RE: Is the next to move BC?
is BC AAU? Is it a large flagship school? Is it in a contingent state? If the answer is no to any one of these then BC will more than likely not be invited.

1 reason I'd want BC in B1G, their hockey team

Edit: No way B1G would take 2 non AAU schools so you'd better hope B1G feels Stony Brook would be a good add and Stony Brook wants to move up.

BC is not being added to the Big Ten. Although until the last couplafew years they've been quite relevant in football and basketball. They're obviously elite in hockey. That being said I think the Big Ten's preference is for large state flagships.

Only true if FOX is buying NESN...otherwise I doubt it.

Boston College and Syracuse to the Big Ten would actually make some sense. Not saying it's going to happen. And hopefully none of you cusers say you'd never leave the ACC for the Big Ten.

If 'Cuse could claim the Medical school theirs again and apply and get accepted back into the AAU it'd make some sense.

Cuse is a much better fit with the ACC...our students, alumni and Upstate NY transplants live along I-81/85/95 and Cuse is like most of the ACC schools.

That assumes the ACC stays relevant and does not become the BE.

Why would that put pressure on ND? ND doesn't really care about BC all that much.

The only way BC ever stood a chance of landing the Big Ten is with Notre Dame.

I think I would agree with Terry in saying this is probably all just smoke to try and light a fire under Notre Dame's ass.

You'd be fools to reject the Big Ten's overtures.

RE: Is the next to move BC?
In all likelihood of the B1G expands again, they need another anchor school or the risk diluting the product too much. Assuming they stay mildly within their footprint the only acc school that seems to make sense for another love would be VPI, as far as on field performance goes and ability to drive revenue. If they were one of the next ones, then they could add another team for their market (not that VPI doesn't represent a big one itself) but otherwise they need a big fish to go to 16.

I know VPI is a good school, but not sure if it fits the b1g profile or not. Otherwise I can't see who they could add and make sense for them.

Any school would be foolish to reject the overtures of the Big 10 or SEC. That goes without saying.

The ACC still has viability for the foreseeable future. Most posters on these boards are more interested in discussing the potential scenarios for the conference we're actually a part of as opposed to indulging in the fantasy of receiving an invitation to another conference. I think that's quite acceptable.

The conference is obviously not in tip top shape at the moment. Maybe it's fantasy to believe it ever will be again. Still - it's what we have to work with at the moment.
