ESPN Radio Interview: B1G after VA & GT; SEC after VaTech & NCSU
Found this post on the MWC Board:

"Ian Fitzsimmons (guy who got TAMU to SEC before anyone else) today said on ESPN radio that his source at SEC offices stated that the Big Ten is moving on Virginia and Georgia Tech next. That the SEC is planning on adding VaTech and NC State. Meanwhile, Florida State and Clemson are waiting to hear from the Big 12 but no contact has been made between the parties. Take it for whatever its worth to you."

Well that's $250 million in exit fees right there (including UM). Wake Forest might make out like a bandit if it's the last man standing.....

Man just a thought, but imagine if all 4 of these are spot on(all make a lot of sense- I would have thought UNC over Ga Tech- just from the fact that Delaney is a UNC guy for one....

ACC would be down to
FSU, Miami, Clemson, UNC, Duke, Wake, Pitt, Syr, BC. That's 9 schools...

B12 then goes FSU, Miami, Clemson, and Pitt- and ACC is finished......

The problem becomes one of 2 things-
1- Maryland gets talked down much lower than 50 million
2- you get more movement and the conference is just dissolved....

either one is possible......

Son of a ***** if NCSU gets into the SEC. I'm not saying I think ECU would be a target but their fanbase would easily be the Ole Miss of the East bragging b/c they lose to great programs. FML they'll be unbearable.

Too many private schools in the ACC is their biggest weakness IMO. Not enough large fanbases.

I don't think that matters one bit. The thing that matters is the poor timing of the TV contract. That's what made the ACC unstable.

I doubt they would dissolve the conference. I think they'd try to invite the football members of the BE. This could be the easiest way to get a BE split. Neither has to start a new conference and the BE inherits the Orange bowl bid under the ACC umbrella.

yep.... Totally a fluke.

Then, the poor performance in football made them 2nd tier in the BCS..... Between the 2, a brutal combo.

Oh, and SEC would make a run at UNC first.

UNC isn't going to get left out when it is all said and done.

I think the outgoing members of the ACC would attempt dissolving to avoid having to pay any exit fees..... If there's enough votes there, it's very possible.

They'll just shove GT out of the way and try to weasel their way into the B10. If there's any truth to B10 pursuing GT it's a trap....

If it gets to a certain point, ACC might be the one gone. Remember, Miami and Pitt may be Big 12 bound as well in that case.. That's down to 5.

One reason why the ACC may be gone, ESPN has them by the crown jewels thru 2027. BE has open TV deal coming up.

I agree, especially with Delaney being the commish a UNC guy.

RE: ESPN Radio Interview: B1G after VA & GT; SEC after VaTech & NCSU
If you are going to have 4 super conferences then the Pac10 will have to add 4 to get to 16 teams.......My guess still is the Texas, TT, OU and Okie State combo go to the Pac 12 to make it 16.

SEC add VA Tech and NCST to get to 16

Big 10 adds Virgina and GT to get to 16

Then the ACC left overs and Big12 left overs for the last conference of 16....

1. ND
2. FSU
3. Clemson
4. WVU
5. TCU
6. Iowa State
7. Kansas
8. Kansas St
9. Baylor
10. UNC
11. Duke
12. Wake
13. Syracuse
14. Pitt
15. BC
16. Miami

There will be political pressure not to dissolve it.

The exit fee wouldn't hold up for that many defections. There comes a point where the conference isn't worth nearly as much anymore.

Miami, Wake, BC, Cuse, Pitt, Duke etc will need the ACC while they wait for the next round of realignment.

Trust me, there's no way UNCheat gets screwed out of a big# invite if it all goes down like this. Playing dirty and F-ing other people over is what they're best at. They're a bunch of lawyers after all. GT is just a bunch of engineers, they'll spend all day analyzing the numbers while UNCheat packs their bags and walks out the door. The whole time they'll pretend to be loyal to the end to Duke, WF and NCSU.

The new BE has already become the old C-USA, so next step is will the new ACC become the new BE? So does the newer BE then become the newer C-USA? Which then pulls from the newer Sunbelt to become the newest C-USA? Nevermind, I need a drink...
