We layed an egg against them a few years ago as well..(I was there and it was not the first loss to an FCS team I watched).. If beating an FCS team is such a certain thing then just mail them the game check and tell them to save the travel cost of coming. Fact is, thats why you play the game. Stockstill seems to have gone as far as he can, much like Stockley and Bustle did for us. Does not mean any of them did not lay some foundations with which can be built on. They did.

I remember Bustle commenting the we were an "awakening giant" when he was first hired. Even though he could not get us over the top, he did lay the foundation we had been looking for. Hud has just gone into overdrive in its construction. I think Stockstill has done the same at MT and the next guy will be able to expand on that much like Hud has for us. I sat through the worst of worst seasons at UL but never missed games and figured our time will come. MT needs to keep that in perspective and refuse to give up. Your day will return.

McNeese is a good team. Your team is going to bounce back. They are primed to make a run at Sam Houston who made the FCS Championship game only to lose to North Dakota State.

Yep - really no shame in losing to McNeese. They are a tough out for any team pretty much every year.

I remember when little ol 1-AA FAU was in its 3rd year of existence and we beat 1-A MT 20-19 in 3003 giving us our first win over a FBS program.

McNeese has beaten FBS teams before... They beat Louisiana in 2007 (quite handily, that was when UL sorta stunk).

Unfortunately all their FBS wins have been against Belt teams. But I got to say that 'beed and company are at fault here. They made it cool to lose to FCS teams when they went on that run through the conference.

These FCS Teams have nothing to lose, they are expected to lose, so they lay it out and pull off upsets now and then.

WKU was a top 40 FCS team and when they moved into the sun belt, look how long it took them to compete.

The top 40 of FCs is not better than the bottom half of the Sun Belt. It isn't even close. WKU was an elite FCs program and it took a few years after they moved up before they could compete playing a full FBS schedule. Playing one FBS opponent a year is not the same as playing in the FBS.

That said, the Southland isn't terrible and McNeese has a solid program. If you all recall, La. Tech needed a score in the last minute to send their game against UCA to overtime last year and while UCA is a very strong program they only recently moved to FCS.

It's one game.

Sorry to tell you that we were no where near the top 40. We had been in decline each year since we won the National Championship. David Elson drove our program in the ground. Had we made the move to the SBC in 2003 with Harbaugh we would have competed right away. But in 2008 we were half the program we were in 2002.

WKU was no where near an elite FCS program when we transitioned. We were near that category at the end of the Harbaugh era, but it was a rapid decline once eLLLLLLson took over. Any of our last several years under Harbaugh would have destroyed any team we have had on the field since up until the last 8 games last year. As bad as all FBS fans hate to admit it, the top end FCS teams are fairly even with the bottom FBS teams. The only major difference is depth.
