....interesting. The ACC expanded and for some reason Maryland fans are not jumping all over themselves to buy season tix. Hmmm.....must be a computer glitch or left wing media conspiracy under-reporting sales.

War Randy Edsall...

lol, I know it's not 40k+, but coming off three of the worst seasons in school history, it's a good start.

That's awesome. I hope to be reporting good numbers at Houston in the future. The lid has been pretty tight this year. I don't expect 22k but we are hoping to hit 15. We'll see. The new stadium in 2014 should be very beneficial for ticket sales and being in Reliant next season could do wonders for corporate sales.

RE: Maryland season ticket woes
Our new AD Tom Bowen said tonight that 35,000 tickets have already been sold for the home opener on Saturday against Tennessee-Martin!04-jawdrop This is Memphis football that we are talking about. Not basketball. The same UM that had about 3,000 butts at the last home game last year. The same team that has won just 5 games in their last 36 contests. Many of which were no contest at all. I'm not bashing my school, I'm pointing out what the new attitude is around Memphis concerning Tiger football is like. New stadium upgrades, new AD. And going to the Big East has a lot to do with it but so does our new coach Justin Fuente who is winning people over and is saying all the right things people are starving to hear. He has that football smarts that our past coach Larry Porter lacked.

If that all translates into productivity and victories on the field, then we are in for one hell of a ride! 04-rock

Man, I love it! The ACC has had some seriously bad ju-ju ever since the first raid. Can it be getting worse because the last raid? Are the "football gods" punishing them for starting the realignment mess?

RE: Maryland season ticket woes
Quote:Maryland’s football season ticket sales are down 18 percent from a year ago, one last lingering hit for the cash-strapped athletic department from a rough 2011 on the field.

Since 2005, Maryland has lost more than 43 percent of its season ticket base and has struggled to fill 54,000-seat Byrd Stadium even after the school constructed 64 luxury suites before the 2009 season. The program battles for attention in a crowded D.C. marketplace hardly known for rabid support of college football, and early afternoon games often create conflicts for families with youth sports commitments.

Could Randy Edsall's dream job turn into a nightmare?01-lauramac2
