They sure did not add some FB juggernauts this last go around. At least in this era.
Memphis have GREAT Corporate support from local companies like FedEx and AutoZone.
AutoZone reportedly bought a lot of end zone seats (usually last to sell)and are now reselling them to the public for $5 a ticket at their stores for the season opener...which is a great promo to even get casual fans inside the stadium on gameday. ($20 for a family of 4? That's cheaper than going to the movies).
Empty seat never bought a hotdog...and props to Memphis for having such great corporate support in their town (i.e. FedEx just spent $2.5 Million on a new scoreboard for the city owned Liberty Bowl Stadium).

What the most that Memphis has ever sold in a single season?
I believe that Memphis sold around 40,000 season tickets for the 1976 season. I think the best of late was the 2004 season when we were around 25,000 season tickets sold.

DAyum. I take back, oh, 25% of what I've said about Memphis.

This is Memphis football that we are talking about. Not basketball. The same UM that had about 3,000 butts at the last home game last year. The same team that has won just 5 games in their last 36 contests. Many of which were no contest at all. I'm not bashing my school, I'm pointing out what the new attitude is around Memphis concerning Tiger football is like. New stadium upgrades, new AD. And going to the Big East has a lot to do with it but so does our new coach Justin Fuente who is winning people over and is saying all the right things people are starving to hear. He has that football smarts that our past coach Larry Porter lacked.
If that all translates into productivity and victories on the field, then we are in for one hell of a ride!
This is the best news I have read on this board in a long, long time. Congrats to our friends in Memphis.

Can't wait for the football version:

USF announced that they were past 23k a few weeks ago. We might get a jump from the announcement that there will be no single tickets sold for the FSU game. You can get upper deck seas from stubhub for 130

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that Memphis can sell 40k season tickets in the near future, but only if we start winning. That is the only way that it is possible.
