Dr. Sowell nails it
It's not just arguing about details of various issues, but the more troubling aspect to the current regime is the wholesale undermining of the American system of Constitutional government.

Whatever liberties are taken by a President that weren't written into the rules of operation for our government, you can be sure that the successor will also take those liberties. Like gravity, once started, it requires some force to stop it. It doesn't appear anybody in Congress has the balls to call for this abuse of the system to stop.

IMO, this has been done intentionally by Obama. He and his agencies are on a full on assault on America to bring her down. Assaults on the economy, the military, the Justice system, our energy sector, religion, the family, and many other aspects in numerous areas.

Quote:The separation of powers into legislative, executive and judicial branches of government is at the heart of the Constitution of the United States -- and the Constitution is at the heart of freedom for Americans.

No President of the United States is authorized to repeal parts of legislation passed by Congress. He may veto the whole legislation, but then Congress can override his veto if they have enough votes. Nevertheless, every President takes an oath to faithfully execute the laws that have been passed and sustained -- not just the ones he happens to agree with.

If laws passed by the elected representatives of the people can be simply over-ruled unilaterally by whoever is in the White House, then we are no longer a free people, choosing what laws we want to live under.

When a President can ignore the plain language of duly passed laws, and substitute his own executive orders, then we no longer have "a government of laws, and not of men" but a President ruling by decree, like the dictator in some banana republic.

If you lefties think, as your hero and his minions do, that because I believe in Constitutional government that I'm an "extremist" then I'll proudly wear that label, as twisted as that assertion really is.

No thanks. You can go clean your own outhouse. I suppose you could have your wife do it for you since that is what women are for, right?. 05-stirthepot

Nope. Not yet as you can tell since I am still posting here. Also, what makes you think that my job involves cleaning toilets? Do you assume I do because I often use a janitor as an example? Maybe I just do that because it has pretty much tended to be low wage work. I could have used "picker" but that doesn't mean a whole hell of a lot to most people.

Because it is the high point job responsibility on your resume.
