The lower levels are going for much more...don't be a hater.

Most schools don't make anything on concessions, they are contracted out to a 3rd party provider.

I'd imagine the Alamo Dome is the same way.

I Facebooked UTSA...they sent me an email. Send me your email via PM and I can forward it to you.

Will they have the staffing at a UTSA game to make sure people aren't purchasing 3rd level seats and sitting in the 1st or 2nd level?

Wager?

I predict UTEP will have 54K for it's opener vs. Oklahoma.

Our average will probably be close to 40K this year.

They have ushers...how vigilant they are is anyone's guess. I don't think UTSA would be heartbroken if some people filter down and fill out the lower bowl for TV games.

RE: UTSA Selling Season Tickets in 3rd Deck
I paid over $500 for my 2 season tickets. Was told that season ticket sales were way ahead of last year & that the endzones were the only areas in the bottom bowl that had a substantial amount of seats left but they were going fast. I was also told that moving the start times of some of the games to later in the afternoon has persuaded people to buy season tickets also. A lot of people like myself either worked or had kids playing in high school or pop warner games at 1pm.

Sure...how about the loser pays GTS $25 for Server costs? Do you guys track attendance by turnstile or distrubuted? I imagine OU fans are buying some season tix to ensure a seat and will dump the other games.

RE: UTSA Selling Season Tickets in 3rd Deck
The problem with selling cheap seats is invariably some people that would have bought the more expensive ones end up buying the cheaper ones. If it is found that you don't tighly control seating then people will buy the cheap ones and move to the expensive ones during the game. Once people find out they can do that it will become a greater problem each year. To stop the problem you quit selling cheap seats and pizz a bunch of people off.

This is why I'm happy Charlotte won't have to grow into a stadium. Instead we can shape the stadium around our needs.

The downside is...Recruits love huge stadiums. BTW, UTSA is getting upper mid level BCS teams to play in San Antonio...the Dome is helping.

True, those are upsides, but if you bring recruits to a stadium built for 60,000 that has 10,000 people...that looks really bad.

UTSA hasn't had to worry about that yet, but may in the future.

Getting BCS teams to play in Charlotte will be difficult until expansion, so that is definitely a downside, but if we can play NCSU, UNC, USC, or Clemson, it may be worth renting BoA stadium until our stadium is expanded.

Blah blah blah. These threads always turn into a pissing contest with everyone opining how whatever their school is doing is the one and only way to do things, and how happy they are their school has a large stadium, small stadium, no stadium, etc.

I was a season ticket holder last year and will be one this year (added another four seats). The dome was great for the opening game. There's nothing like being with 50k+ screaming fans. However, it also sucked the last home game of the season when the student section was empty (Thanksgiving holiday) and the dome was a third full. So, it's good and bad.

Tickets sales are ahead of where they were last year. I tried to move two of my seats up and was told there was nothing available to move up to. It's one thing to have the tickets, it's another to go to the game. Let's hope we get steady support during the rough seasons that are coming.

Where have you seen single game tickets for 35? Cheapest home tickets I see are $45.

By bad, had not looked, figured some would be $35 like UTEP and Memphis to sell more.

All mid-level football programs that aren't winning 9-10 games a year and play in large stadiums that are owned by the home city face the same issues. You guys are no different, just a little newer to the circumstances.

With the exceptions of program loyalty, seat selection, and just being a darned good fan; there's not a compelling reason to buy season tickets With the average fan not having a compelling reason to buy season tickets, when a season goes south, the walk up/game by game crowd dwindles. In the last decade, we've averaged from 19K to 41K, all tied to the number of wins.

I suspect that you guys will be somewhat insulated from some of the peaks and valleys your first decade+/- because of the excitement of previously unavailable college football......best game on earth.
