You should
5/7
You would get waxed by the top 5 FCS teams
If you say so champ. You can talk about Sagarin rankings and our conference members getting waxed by FCS teams, or you can continue to post on this forum...your choice.
*6 time champ
Sorry, didn't realize it would upset people
I am envious of your trophy case...
How do you fit all six of those?

That is correct. The attempt to correlate FCS and FBS is full of errors. GSU ranking here I would agree with.

Don't get me wrong, I would have loved for us to have won some FCS championships back in the FCS days, that was before I was a student, but it would be good to have them.
Having said that, I'd rather have 0 FCS championships and be where we are, than have 6 and be where you are.

I get teams are in different divisions, but doesn't sagarin factor some strength of schedule?

I have not been a proponent of moving to FBS, sorta big fish in small pond attitude, like getting to semi finals last two years, what would we look forward to in FBS?
FBS world just seems stacked for the to AQ conferences
So where is mtsu going these days? I am from Franklin, tn so I have known a ton of people that went there. 2-10 last year, what does 2012 look like?

2004 Harvard went 10-0 and did not play a single team that awarded scholarships. Sagarin had them rated 37th, nearly 50 spots ahead of Georgia Southern, just one spot behind FCS national champion JMU and one spot ahead of 7-5 Minnesota

I'm predicting a bounce back, I expect at least 5-7, hoping for more like 7-5, anything beyond that would be gravy.

Playing football that people outside your own fanbase pay attention to. I'm not saying the Sun Belt is front page of the sports section stuff, far from it, but at least we're playing on national television several times a year, playing big name teams in our own stadium and have the dangling carrot of becoming at least semi-relevant. A FCS team could go undefeated for five consecutive years and few would notice.

Georgia Southern would be eaten alive in the SBC the first several years...Those ratings are the biggest joke. I never look at site

Very true man, one of my best buddies here in Atlanta went to mtsu, but is a rabid UTK fan, he has no clue when mtsu is playing, the difference between the bottom of FBS and top of FCS is pretty small

GA Southern would be 3 years minimum from getting to 6 wins in the SBC if they joined this year.

Exactly. Southern racks up wins against FCS teams that also rack up wins against FCS teams.

The difference between the bottom 10 or so FBS schools and the top 10 or so FCS schools is pretty small talent wise, but the FCS schools do not have the depth.
If the FCS national champion in any given year could play each of the bottom 10 FBS schools individually, in a vacuum, with no game the week before or the game after, on a neutral field, I actually think the FCS team would post a winning record, not 10-0, but a winning record nonetheless.
Unfortunately for the sake of this discussion, that's not how football is played. If the FCS national champion was to play that same group of 10 schools over an 11 week period, they'd be lucky to go 5-5.

Also the bottom 10 Teams in the FBS are not all in the SBC....Some are in the CUSA, MAC, WAC....I would put maybe 1 or 2 SBC school in the bottom 10.
The MAC conference has a VERY weak bottom teams. They have maybe 5 schools that do well for their conference but the ones that sit in the bottom year in and out are VERY weak and are weaker than anything in the SBC.
