The Cajuns are going through an athletic facility complex plan with an outside entity to determine the best way to handle the improvements needed at the football, baseball, and soccer/track facility. The planned expansions was going to cramp some of the spaces between facilities, and probably will necessitate the relocation or removal of some roads currently part of the complex. Cajun Field opened in 1971, and really hasn't had any significant improvements since, so it's definitely in need. The ideas being tossed around at this point would be to remove the upper deck which includes the press box & suite area, and build a building along that side of the stadium that will overhang the lower bowl. This new facility (similar to Troys) will include a new press box with all amenities, many more suite areas and club boxes, and have offices, academic areas, and a sports shop among the planned spaces. I've included a couple of current photos (sorry about the quality), and an artist rendering I ran across. I'm somewhat cautious, as budgets are tight right now in Louisiana and we'll have to grow our athletic foundation and private donor commitments to meet all these objectives.
