Why would GaState vote FOR adding a team half a country away, essentially denying a team 200 miles away? Doesn't make financial sense. Southern/State Rivalry would be great for both schools. We'd bring a TON of fans to the Dome. Unless that's what your administration would be afraid of, hence why they would rather vote to fly all teams 1,400 miles away to compete. 01-wingedeagle01-wingedeagle

LOL! I really seriously wasnt thinking of Georgia Southern when I made that comment.

You're always thinking of Southern.

You argument makes no logical sense. If travel time is roughly the same, why would you fly when you can bus for a fraction of the cost, gain a local rival, sell a TON of extra tickets, and the list could go on.

Does the thought of hearing us chant "Georgia... Southern" With 20k of our own fans across your stadium scare you that bad? :)
Not to hurt your feelings but no, not really. I am willing to take a lie detector test. LOL. In fact, before you guys came over to prostitute yourselves in a last ditch "Take Us Instead" attempt after April 9th, I really never thought of you much. Not nearly as much as you guys think of us. Seriously? 60% of your smack board is about us???

"Never thought of us much" are you kidding? You have over 300 posts over the course of TWO YEARS on our message board. 60% of those posts on our smack board were started by you and other State fans trolling our boards to get us all riled up.

300 posts in two years is a lot for someone that "hardly thinks of something."

That's thinking about us every other day since you started football.

Furman? Really?

Craziness I tell ya.

No to mention they started two threads titled Jax State as an option and Liberty as an option.

The thought of getting thrashed by the triple option in front of more Ga Southern fans in the dome is unbearable. I am expecting a U of Alaska Fairbanks as an option thread any minute now.

Liberty is also only being seriously discussed by one person(Lookin at you Panthersville). We did bring up Jacksonville State, but it's been brought up here many times as well. So go ahead and rag on all these guys too.

I don't want Southern for a couple of reasons:
1) GS is not financially ready. Get your ducks in a row before you move up.

2) I don't want to compete with GS for recruits for a while. It'll be nice to grab non-AQ FBS recruits from Georgia without you for a while to speed our growth.

I get point 1, which many of our close faithful are thinking is a chicken-egg situation. Money would increase with an FBS announcement, but we might not get one until we have more money. New 50k sqft Football ops building and additional seats are in the works and would most likely be done by 2013 regardless of a move.

Point 2 - other than defense, we really don't compete for a lot of the same athletes. These past two years I think we had maybe 2-3 kids TOPS that we were both going after. Out of the 100+ kids that typically get targeted for a recruiting class, that's pretty small percentage for an in state school. I think we'll both benefit greatly from moving FBS.

I forgot 3, which is totally selfish, but a couple of years to recruit and outpace you guys would be nice.

Any chance of dropping the TO once you go FBS, though?

Hell no. Our tradition is based on the triple option and we love it and take pride in it.

Please ignore the Georgia State fans, they are starved of attention. They don't get enough in "their media market" so they take out their frustration on Georgia Southern. Back to Sun Belt talk plz.

Every thread is degenerating into a GaSo vs GaSt pissing match. SBC, invite them already so the two actually have a reason to be incessantly going back and forth.

Maybe they could just share a messageboard between the two of 'em and they can have at it. No one else could post, but just read, if they could stand it.

You realize the last GSU poster before you wrote this...that would be me...was asking a legit question regarding Southern's offense, right?

I don't hate Southern. They just aren't what the Sun Belt is looking for. They can talk about GSU all they want, but we have our invite. They want one too. Will they get it? It's looking unlikely.

App State brings everything GS brings, but more in that they are in a different state and a research institution. NMSU brings good basketball, something the SBC is lacking in, and they are very close to a relatively large media market.

Did you expect App State to announce it the minute it came? These things take times. I wouldnt expect anything official until next week.

No chance. We tried that once, many thought it was to position our school for the next level.

Went 8-3 in 2005, scrapped the option after a meltdown @texas state in the first round of the playoffs.

2006 3-8
2007 7-4
2008 6-5
2009 5-6.

Went back to the option and went 10-5 in 2010 and 11-3 in 2011, making it to the semi finals both years.

Sounds like Panthertalk.com. Bunch of threads about Southern, misinformation, envy, and little man syndrome by the bus load.

Try to log in to set the record straight with facts = instant ban.

That board is modded more than the North Korean news.
