TV Contract
What is our current payout per school from ESPN ? How much do we stand to gain from adding a Georgia presence and conference championship game when we renegotiate?

RE: TV Contract
Despite what everyone thinks we will be getting a lot more money if the WAC isn't a football conference.

Well, yeah, from a BCS money distribution standpoint. But I'm specificially talking about our TV contract with ESPN, which will be renegotiated following the departures of FIU and UNT.

We will come out this stronger if we get GSouthern and App State along with TxSt and GaSt. I don't think ESPN will renegotiate until we get a championship game.

I'm pretty sure that something is written into the contracts stating that if league membership changes, the conference has the right to request re-negotiations. I'm sure the pitfall there is whether or not re-negotiations will actually result in more money.

Since App State would add North Carolina and the GSU's would add Georgia, I would think so.

Well Fox is starting an all sports national cable TV channel. There's going to be competition for content. And we've likely got 96 conference games plus a championship game to sell.

I'm sure there is also but it's my opinion that ESPN wants us at 12 before they will give us any more money. We will have a whole lot more to sell if everything goes as planned with UTA, Georgia Southern, and App State. These moves will really give us a strong presence in Georgia and a stronger presence in Texas.

RE: TV Contract
With the WAC gone, isn't that one less conference willing to provide weeknight broadcasting opportunities?

I would think so too. Just pointing out that a change in membership wouldn't necessarily always result in more tv dollars, and that that's something that the commish and presidents would have to take into account in making their decision on whether to re-negotiate or not.

I've said before and I'll say it again: There needs to be a 30 minute or 1 hour weekly SBC television show. CSS has plenty of this type thing. They could find a spot for a Sun Belt show.

FAU keeps a presence in South Florida. UTA negates the loss of UNT somewhat. Texas State adds the San Antonio and Austin markets. GS and GSU adds bring in the entire state of Georgia (9 million). App State has a good portion of the Charlotte, Winston-Salem/Greensboro, and Asheville markets. Throw in a conference title game and the SBC could come out ahead. But then again I don't know how these network execs think.

In an attempt to answer the question, since no one has I don't think, we receive about $100k-$150k per member.

UTA doesn't even play football, you won't get a dime from adding them.

What would be a location for a championship game? Or would the best team host?

I'd rather it be best team hosting.

Copy the SEC and have it at the Ga Dome. Ga State will never make it to the championship game so there will be no home field advantage.

However, depending on the interest team hosting may make more sense.
