RE: UTSA to Sun Belt?
Benson said he wanted to go to 12 for football. I don't think he wants to add non-football programs.

I was just stating the reason for UTA then. If you want to go 12 for fooball and 13 all-sports, then Georgia Southern and App State would be the choices.

I'm with you on Texas State, but why UT-Arlington? Grab App State and/or Georgia Southern.
If Ga Southern gets an invite then that means Panama will have to watch his Panthers get mauled 55-0 at the dome in front of 10,000 Ga Southern fans and 5,000 Ga State fans. If we are not in FBS at least he can say, "well we are FBS so we are better than you and would beat you on the field because we are FBS". Getting mauled by Ga Southern at the dome will be absolutely unbearable for State fans.
Oh gee, a "who's the tallest midget" fight
That's funny. Let's see how North Texas and Ga Southern did against their common opponent Alabama last year. North Texas trailed 20-0 at the half after managing 25 yards on 19 plays. Trent Richardson had 12 carries for 167 yards and got to rest the second half. Meanwhile, Ga Southern trailed 24-14 including a 10 point swing blocked FG for TD by Bama which was our first in school history. We managed 219 yards in the first half. Trent Richardson had to stay in the entire game getting 32 carries and 175 yards, which were his most carries last season. We ended up putting 21 on Bama which was the most points they gave up while North Texas couldnt scrounge up a single point losing 41-0 while the Bama starters rested the entire second half.

I am really getting sick of this idiot tracing me post for post and not having anything constructive to say
To answer you Burn I dont see a reason to go beyond the 4 generally accepted candidates if the idea is to build SEC Lite. If GaSo was ready financially and had a 30k seat stadium that didnt look like an FCS stadium on TV I say add them. Same for App. We need to add the candidates that can add the most to the conference immediately with their facilities, budget and location because lets face it, football and basketball can be fixed in a hurry. We have all seen WKU and FIU do so. What is difficult is to add facilities. No flame but are schools in Louisiana and Arkansas ready to have their Olympic teams sports fly from Lafayette, Monroe or Memphis to Atlanta and then connect to Savannah or Ashville or Greensboro and drive an hour or two. Boone and Statesboro are 5.5 to 8 hours from everyone on the EAST side of the conference except us. All this needs to and I am sure is being taken into consideration. The best bet now before July is to add Texas State and a non fb such as UT-Arlington and stick at 10/12 for now. We can always revisit this next spring and see who is ready or if anyone is not happy with the Rebel Alliance.

I dont think we're getting to 12 if we lose 2 and La Tech, Charlotte and UTSA all join the Alliance

pANAMA
It's obvious you know nothing about App State. We have the facilities already. Average attendance regular season last year was over 28,000. Even though we just did a complete football stadium redo in 2009, we have another one ready when we announce going FBS that would give us room to put over 45,000 in our stadium. It is part of a $200,000,000 facility enhancment that will have 1/4 to 1/3 going toward the football stadium; of the $200,000,000 we have raised over $135,000,000 already, so will be ready to rock and roll. When they tear down the GaDome where will you play, the new Falcons stadium outside of town? Anyway, don't start throwing false statements. I am basically sitting back and not saying anything normally, but do get ticked when you make false statements.

RE: UTSA to Sun Belt?
Would love to have app st..latech wont get into CUSA and it's starting to look like all these realignment rumors are false bc we would be having had teams leave by now. only one that I see making the lateral move is UNT. If we keep FIU sbc wins and will be stronger than the 2 team CUSA. ECU and USM is all they have

Just as a reminder to everyone touting every eastern time zone southern team that has ever thought of playing football...
Even if UNT leaves you still have three members of this conference in states bordering Texas who tend to do some of their recruiting there and have alums there and aren't wildly excited about still more eastern time zone trips.

I agree and this is how I expect it to eventually turn out, App State could be added this round of additions and Georgia Southern next year.
The smart thing for Benson to do, and I'm sure what he will do, is to wait and see what happens with C-USA and MWC expansion first to see if the WAC survives and to see which, if any, FCS schools get picked up like UNCC.

This is only step/year 1 of this "alliance". CUSA will most likely come back and get 2 to 3 more. If certain trends continue ULL and Ark st will be gone. possibly MTSU
