Georgia St update
Just saw this:
http://blogs.ajc.com/georgia-state-sport...embership/

Sounds as if Benson will be meeting with Georgia St on Monday. This is huge because Tuesday the CAA is meeting to up the exit fee from 250k up to 1 million. So probably should hear some firm information on Monday I would think.

RE: Georgia St update
Announcement coming Monday at 2pm. Guess Georgia State really didn't want to pay more than the initial $250K exit fee.

RE: Georgia St update
That's 11 football teams for the SBC. They'd need to add 1 for 12. Unless they're expecting to lose one to the C-MWC (which they probably are.)

The SBC could also imitate the Big Tin and stay at 11 for a while before deciding on #12...

Good luck to them, but I think they are going to be the new Western Kentucky. Just don't see how they are going to be able to overcome the likes of UGA and GT.

a lot more talent to go around in Georgia than Kentucky. Atlanta is a huge market so that helps their cause a lot nowadays.

RE: Georgia St update
Maybe so, but I remember last year, they only drew 3 to 4,000 for one of their games. This is also the team that lost to a couple of NAIA teams and I believe a non-scholly team. Not saying that is a predictor for the future, but the kind of talent they were suppose to have vs how they play are two different things. I do wish them well, because I really do think it would be the right move for them.

LA is a huge market with a ton of talent. But I don't see UCLA challenging USC, even in the Trojans down years...

You need more than just a market and talent, NQ...

The right coach at UCLA could challenge USC in football.

This state has 10M people and until tomorrow night TWO FBS programs. Alabama has 4M people and 5 FBS programs. We will be fine,

We have never drawn less than 11k. Again we will be fine. FCS doesnt do well in big cities in the South. I am looking forward to our conference schedule as well as our OOC home schedule.

They've been saying that at UCLA since I left California in '85. The man must be as elusive as bigfoot...

No one's explained to me why this increase would pass. GSU doesn't want it. I doubt VCU and GMU want it with their A-10 rumors. I doubt ODU wants it with their FBS rumors. I'd assume JMU wouldn't want it either since they could themselves try to move up to FBS and stick with ODU.

Better to be WKU than stuck in FCS for the longhaul. Jmo. And WKU had a solid season last year. Not bad for only being FBS for a few years.

Even when they were losing you knew who WKU was because they were FBS

Have not gotten an explanation of this either

Same reason why the Big East football members increased the exit fees even though most were looking to get of the conference at the time. They might want to exit the conference at a later time but they still do care about the stability of the conference they currently are in.
